Can you handle that money when you have it?

Occasionally we get so stranded in life and can't do certain things because of money shortages, but when it comes, I feel like it's too much and I wonder if it's just me.

One of my friends replied to that status with, "Too much for you? Please feel free to ask me to send my account details.". We laughed and talked about other things.

While I pondered on what to write for this blog post, a few questions crossed my mind.

  • What does money do?
  • Why do I suddenly feel I have too much money at hand when there are things to settle?
  • Can money satisfy me?
  • Do I need money to stay happy?
  • When do I become financially independent?
  • Am I spending too much already?
  • What is going to happen to me when I get to that point where my money finishes?
  • Why do I have to spend money all the time?

Let's talk about money.

What does money do for you? If you ask me, this would be my response; Money pays my bills, money gives me financial freedom, money makes me relax when I think about future expenses, money upgrades me in terms of changing an old item to a new one, money boosts my self-confidence, money helps me get what I desire...Money does a lot for us individually and the list of what money can do is endless.

Why do I suddenly feel I have too much money at hand when there are things to settle?

I don't know if this feeling is unique to me and I am not sure why I feel that way sometimes. I remember my days at the gym when I would run out of money, then in the next minute, a client would just come and tip me money. It might be because the tip I was given helped me resolve something I was thinking about before I was tipped. Therefore, there was still money left over for me to spend as I want.

Can money satisfy me?

Can money satisfy you? In this present world, I doubt that money can satisfy anyone. On Sunday I had to go get foodstuffs in preparation for the resumption week and my hope is that this foodstuff would last long enough but the fact is that it won't. Despite the foodstuffs, I am still spending money every day on snacks for my son and other daily expenses. There are a lot of things we need to take care of every day and because of that money may not be able to satisfy us unless it gets to that stage where we don't have needs and wants again. Now, the question is; is there ever going to be a time when we no longer have needs and wants?

Do I need money to stay happy?

I have experienced having enough money, in the sense that I had no bills to take care of, I just had the money relaxing in my account. At some point, it dawned on me that there are times in my life that I may have all I need and still be unhappy and that is why it is important for me to find happiness in myself and not in any material things so that when those material things are no there, I would still be happy.

When do I become financially independent?

If you ask me about financial freedom, I'd say that the moment when I am able to accomplish tasks and take care of things that require financial intervention easily, but also that moment when I don't have to wait for money from anyone anymore, that moment when my expenses are covered and I still have money for investing and emergency purposes. Then I can say I am financially independent.

Am I spending too much already?

Sometimes I feel like I am spending too much and it is not a pleasant feeling. Especially when I am left with no choice but to re-fill my gas cylinder 11 days after filling 3kg of gas in the same cylinder. Expenses like that make me angry, or should we talk about food instead? And more? I feel tired just thinking about it. It helps me to feel better when I know I have already saved a portion of the money. I just take it that the remainder is for expenses rather than enjoyment.

What is going to happen to me when I get to that point where my money finishes?

Should I be scared that I have gone back to 0? Fear isn't entirely a bad thing, it sometimes is a sign to us that something we value might be in danger, just like Adam Grant said,

The ideal response is not to dismiss the alert but to troubleshoot.

You can say I am too spiritual, but with the happenings in my life so far, I can say that I trust God to take care of me when I get to that point where my money finishes. Good work, being consistent, and persistent are important but surviving in this world is all by God's grace.

Why do I have to spend money all the time?

This shouldn't be so difficult to answer, we have unending wants, desires, and needs.

I want to visit a music studio and have fun recording an original song or cover. Although I have not decided which country I would love to travel to yet, I know I would love to go to a cold country. As much as I need to study to stay relevant, I also need to raise my son well, and I need to buy land or even a house for my parents so that someday when I am no longer with them, I can relax knowing they won't have to work so hard to keep up with the rent payments on the house.

Can you handle that money when you have it?

Hell yeah! As long as I take my book and list out all those needs, wants, and desires, fulfillment will follow.

Thanks for reading.

Money can not buy happiness but it can maintain it. Sometimes I feel like I have spent too much and other times just like you when I have money it feels like it is too much to spend when I have tons of things to sort out.

I decided to get foodstuff yesterday when I noticed I was left with just a little bit hehe..the market wasn't friendly.. I kept shaking my head to ensure I had heard the prices of goods well. It is sad.

I like your point. It is true that money cannot buy happiness but can undoubtedly maintain it.
With the inflation of the cost prices of things, you would go to the market to get stuff only to overspend or not have enough money to buy the items that have been listed. It is well.

The first thing I asked was ...what kind of question is this lol😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂... because I have many things to do with such cash if I see it . We all know that money is not source of happiness but at least it contributes to it.
The other time I went to the market I almost cried my eyes out because with the way price increases the value of 5000 naira can't fetch one food items that are much...

LOL...I was just telling someone this afternoon that God created us well. If you look at the characteristics of living things, you would see that adaptation is one of them. Adaption and God's grace are what have been helping us and would continue to help us.

I don't think money can buy happiness. I'm usually good with money and don't require that much of it to do the things I do, but, at the same time, there have been times when I've had nothing and that was pretty stressful.

Yeah, I understand what you mean. Having just enough to invest and spend on day to expenses is just enough...and not having any at all can be frustrating and makes life tiring. I appreciate your amazing comment on my blog post. Thank you.🙂

Money is useful but we should be careful to know when to choose it over something else and trust me, for most times, it's advisable not to choose money first because we should always know, like you have said, our needs and wants are insatiable.
