Andy Murray beats Nikoloz Basilashvili in first round at Melbourne

It was a great return to Australian open court for Briton Andy Murray has he marked it with a win in an entertaining match against Nikoloz Basilashvili of Georgia.

Murray who was on the verge of retirement sometime three years ago in 2019 after making an emotional speech due to the struggle he was going through at the time.

The 34 year old started brightly in the game has he breezed through the first set in 23 minutes. The tie was however turn on its in the subsequent set has Basilashvili gave him a tough performance.

At the end of the day it was the Briton who emerged victorious in a 6-1 3-6 6-4 6-7 (5-7) 6-4. Murray will facing Taro Daniel of Japan on Thursday in the second round of the tournament.
