A "Single Mans" Valentines Day Dinner (home cooked)

Sad to say, I didn't get pics during the prep for this stuff, but I scrubbed three potatoes, sliced about ¼ inch thick slices and put that on to boil, then in another pot I brought water, salt and butter up to near boil, then added corn starch and flour, then finally some milk.
I dumped the cooked sliced taters into that, which instantly became lumpy 😤, when before I had whisked it smooth
I got that worked out, then put cheddar cheese on top, and let it sit under the broiler for a few minutes

This was the result, and let me tell you, dem dair taters was gud!
You'll notice a small container of leftover tomatoes and rice in the upper right corner

Meanwhile, back at the farm

I had a pound and a half of Beef chuck sirloin tip steak that had been in the freezer for a while, so I thawed it, patted it dry, rubbed S&P in liberally, then heated up the Air Fryer

6 minutes on the one side at 400°, flip it, 4 minutes on the second side, while it rested, I let a pat of real unsalted butter melt on it.

So here we have "Faux Scalloped potatoes" Leftover tomatoes and rice, the last of a small "Italian Ciabatta Bread roll" and the (rather chewy) strips of meat.
I am stuffed, and I didn't even eat all that meat, what was left went back with the rest in a container to be refrigerated for use later, perhaps in a stir fry.

Looks and sounds delicious! 🥔🥩🔪🍅🥘

When did you acquire an air fryer and how is the learning curve? I've been tempted but don't have room for one. Been eyeing a Ninja 13 in 1 air fryer / countertop oven that folds upward and out of the way when not in use.

Hope you had a pleasant Valentine's Day and are doing well! @jerrytsuseer💕

Good Morning @ninahaskin, a friend gave me this device when I moved here. It had been dropped so now the handle to the main drawer won't stay locked to the cook pan, so when pulling it out one must be careful.
There was a bit of a learning curve, but it is basically a broiler with a fan blowing.
It is a lot quicker with most things

Great housewarming gift! Guess it's good news that the air fryer didn't break when it fell and is still usable.👨‍🍳

When I hear "fan" and "blowing" in conjunction with food preparation I think of dried and dehydrated end results, especially meats. I need to get over that mental road block!😀

Fan + Blowing=Convection oven, as opposed to strictly Radiant heat cooking.
So in essence there is radiant heat from above, but the fan is circulating that HOT air all around the food, so it cooks much quicker and more evenly that radiant heat, whether from above or below.

I know and understand the concept but I'm a child born back before microwaves were even invented!😂😂😂

Hot air blowing by a fan is what we used to call air conditioning! 🌬🔥💨♨️

Happy Tuesday, Jerry!

For my single woman's valentine dinner, I had a bowl of cereal. Next year can I come to your house?

Any time my friend @owasco.
Do you realize you are one of those who I've known and been associated with almost from the start on the blockchain?
