Bellows from Organ ABC by Vidas Pinkevicius

Bellows, #2 in the set called Organ ABC by Vidas Pinkevicius, is the piece for today. For me, the piece is about the "lungs" of the organ--those long sustained chords held together only through the air chests pushing the air through the pipes. The bellows are the thing that brings the instrument to life. For the most part, this is a fairly chordal piece with the manuals moving together. Thhe pedal part provides some filler on the longer held notes as well. The open fifth chords at the opening and closing of the piece remind me of early organum of the Middle Ages.
