Solana just survived a fox attack! 🦊
Here’s the story:
For the past few weeks, I’ve been free-ranging my flock, letting them roam the area grazing and eating bugs throughout the yard. That of course, comes with a risk. There are lots of foxes, coywolves, bobcats and raccoons around that would love to have a duck snack.
About 20 minutes ago, I was sitting at my computer when I heard commotion outside. I look out the window and see a big, healthy fox standing beside the ducks.
I yelled “HEY MOTHER FUCKER” as loud as I could out of the window… The fox looked up at me, and then looked back at the ducks and went for a swipe. I thought to grab my gun and take a quick shot out the window, but with all of the ducks in the vicinity, there was a big risk of friendly fire.
Instead, I ran as fast as I could out of the house, full speed towards the fox, who at that point had Solana in it’s mouth and began to run off. I chased it a good 50 yards through the forest, getting ripped apart by prickers, but I wasn’t going to let it get away.
I could see Solana flailing as the fox was running off with her in its mouth… Luckily she managed to break free as I was on the chase. Surprisingly without any external wounds.
The lucky duck seems to be in good shape, just a little frightened 🦆
Although Solana didn’t need it today, if you own a poultry flock, it’s always good to have Theracyn on hand!

She is, indeed, a very lucky duck! I'm glad things turned out OK. We used to live on a waterway and kept a flock of ducks. Generally coyotes were the biggest threat; they sometimes get very bold, even during the day.

When I read this title I thought you were referring to the Solana blockchain and a "fox attack" was like a "sybyll attack".

She may have internal injuries. A vet check probably would be useful in this case. Just to be sure that she is really unharmed. Good that you was there to save her from the fox.
Be careful, the fox's saliva carries many dangers, rabies is one of them, it is better not to take the duck after this and go check with the doctor.
