What interests me the most when we discuss famous tourist destinations in the Philippines is my curiosity about how the Chocolate Hills in Bohol taste like. That was my first thought when I first heard of it in elementary school during my Sibika or Hekasi subject/class. (From a Philippine history class)

Then I was surprised when my teacher began flashing cards with photos of the Chocolate Hills. That's when I find out that CHOCOLATE HILLS are small mountains covered in green but turns brown during the dry season or summer, just like chocolate. It is not a delicacy, but rather a popular tourist attraction found only in the Philippines' province of Bohol.

That and more beautiful spots to see. Come and join me on my 3 days experience at Bohol

DAY 1

This trip happened back on September 2019. A friend and former coworker from my previous company invited me and the rest of the gang to visit her hometown of Bohol. My vacation leave was approved just in time! So I said yes and prepared for a new adventure.

If you're coming from Cebu, you can simply take a ferry to Tagbiliran City Pier (Capital of Bohol). The travel time is less than an hour. If you travel by plane, there is a direct flight from Manila that takes up to 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Because we were only in Cebu, we decided to take the ferry. On the way there, the sky was clear and sunny. We paid 250 pesos ($4.77) each for regular economy on Ocean Jet, a well-known ferry boat in Cebu that travels from Cebu to Tagbiliran City and vise versa.

When we arrived, we didn't forget to take the obligatory groupie in front of their "Behold Bohol" wall.

Afterwards, we headed straight to the place where we'll be staying for the night. My friend Grace, has reserved a room for us to stay overnight. It's her gift to us since she just returned from Japan. We didn't see her for two years, but we stayed in touch virtually.

GLAMPING ALONA 🍂

This aesthetically pleasing glamping vibe can be found in Panglao, Bohol. The place is a little pricey, but it's totally worth it for the boho vibe. Their sleeping quarters are in a large tent. With a pool in the center.

By the way these are my friends I worked with on my previous company and has become a good friends of mine til present.

They are the people that I am with in my whole Bohol experience for 3 days. We all loves to travel and is continously trying to travel to different places until now.

It was already late in the afternoon when we arrived. It took almost 30mins travelling time from Tagbiliran Pier to Panglao by Tricycle (a 3 wheeled vehicle in Phillipines) and we were only planning on resting for the rest of the day. Swimming at their pool. Chilling at their billiards table, catching up and talking about how life has changed since we were separated at work.

Not to mention, Glamping Alona isn't just beautiful because of their unique set-up but they also have entertainment areas like where you can watch movies, hammock to rest, a restobar to dine in and the billiard corner to play. They are pet friendly too which I really love.

Their menu is quite pricey since they are also offering international cuisines for their foreign guests. Their staff are really friendly and didn't even asked us to pay for corkage when we brought our take out from fast food and eat it there when we arrived.

It was an absolutely great stay experience at Glamping Alona before our main trip to begin which I will be sharing on my next post for Part 2. I will not only highlight the famous destination in Bohol but I will also be sharing our experience from different Inns/resorts we stayed.

(Desclaimer: All the photos posted in this blog and the rest of the blogs related to this was taken and saved from my old phone.)

I hope to see you on my next trip!
