       Esa noche era un escenario perfecto para filmar una historia de terror, lo que llevó a los estudiantes de Cine y Comunicación Audiovisual de la Universidad Central, a dar rienda suelta a la imaginación en un cortometraje de asesinatos que querían realizar. Oliver comenzó hace tiempo a crear el guión de su obra, aunque no encontraba la localización perfecta para una historia de este tipo acorde con sus pretensiones de hacer sentir al público un terror real. Esto hizo que el actor principal quien deseaba hacer todo rápidamente, y el director tuvieran bastantes choques de ego, poniendo a los demás miembros en medio de sus absurdas discusiones.

       El equipo estaba formado por: Oliver, director y guionista; Mario, encargado de la producción; Luis, encargado de la fotografía y el sonido; Sofía, actriz, encargada del vestuario, maquillaje y peluquería; Renato operador de cámara; Sebastián, actor principal. Todos ellos incluidos Oliver y Sebastián, acordaron que esa misma noche comenzarían a rodar en El Pantano de Grone, un lugar muy conocido en la ciudad por las misteriosas desapariciones que se producen en sus alrededores. Esto sería un complemento perfecto para el tema que buscaban para el cortometraje.

       Llegaron al pantano a eso de las 21:00 hrs en la camioneta de Sebastián, quien provenía de una familia adinerada por lo que no sólo era el actor principal sino también el que aportaba todo el presupuesto para la filmación. Mientras sus compañeros preparaban todo, Renato comenzó a explorar con su cámara buscando los puntos exactos para las tomas de suspenso, tenía que tener cuidado donde pisaba ya que había arenas movedizas en la zona. Luego comenzó a adentrarse en la densa vegetación del bosque prácticamente esquivando las zonas pantanosas hasta llegar al siguiente terreno, mientras observaba a su alrededor cada detalle del oscuro hábitat que lo rodeaba, justo en ese momento pudo notar algo bastante extraño, por no decir inusual. En todo el camino no había visto ni oído a ningún animal, ni siquiera a las ruidosas ranas del pantano.

       De pronto la cámara filmó algo que acechaba entre las sombras de los árboles y la fría humedad de esos lugares hacía mucho más incómodo estar allí, el joven camarógrafo sintió inmediatamente un escalofrío por su columna vertebral mientras su cuerpo temblaba de pánico al presentir que algo malo iba a suceder. Sintió detrás de él un sonido de ramas rompiéndose, el miedo no le permitió voltear, simplemente corrió en dirección a sus amigos, escapando de una criatura que ni siquiera había visto pero que suponía era real.

       Llega casi sin aliento y al borde de la histeria dónde se encontraban sus compañeros, les insta a correr porque hay algo terrorífico acechando en los pantanos y hasta los animales huyen despavoridos de el.

—Parece que a Sebastián le está saliendo competencia en la actuación —dice Oliver, sonriendo—, vamos a tener que hacer un casting para elegir protagonista parece.

       Justo en ese momento una criatura antropomórfica desliza una especie de tentáculos que atraviesan el cuerpo de Renato, matándolo en el acto.        Desde lejos tanto Sebastián como Oliver escucharon un horrible grito seguido del estruendoso silbido el cual sabían que significaba la pérdida de otro de sus amigos, lo único que podían hacer era correr hacia el vehículo si querían salvar sus vidas. Una vez dentro de este pensaron que estaban a salvo, pero entonces a lo lejos vieron salir a ese ser que los iba matando uno a uno y que parecía sacado de una película de ficción, rápidamente saltó encima del vehículo para intentar atraparlos, rompiendo los cristales haciendo que ambos jóvenes saltaran fuera. Oliver se puso inmediatamente en pie para continuar su huida pero su acompañante estaba herido con uno de los cristales que se le incrustó en la pierna, impidiéndole caminar y dejándolo a merced de esta cosa de origen desconocido. Su desesperada llamada de auxilio a Oliver le hizo volverse a este para ayudarle, aunque sabían que no saldrían vivos de aquel maldito lugar esa noche. Intentó alcanzar a Sebastián pero la criatura se apresuró rápidamente a lanzarle uno de sus tentáculos, el cual esquivó con precisión para correr a ayudar a su amigo que yacía en el suelo sangrando profundamente, la criatura al darse cuenta de esto se quedó quieta observando la escena para luego retroceder y marcharse sin ninguna explicación.

       Finalmente subieron al vehículo que solo había perdido las ventanillas pero aún funcionaba, Oliver encendió el motor para salir de aquel horrible pantano. Mientras lo hacía se le vino a su memoria una historia que le contó su abuelo en la infancia, sobre un grupo de amigos que entraron al pantano y nunca más regresaron, solo se supo que regularmente un anciano decía que presenció la muerte de todos esos jóvenes a manos del "Dringo" quien mata a todo aquel que entra a sus dominios con sentimientos de egoísmo. Nunca pensó que la vida lo pondría en esa situación y mucho menos que casi perdiera la vida intentando salvar a alguien como Sebastián, logrando que entre ellos surgiera una verdadera y sincera amistad.

       The night was a perfect setting for filming a horror story, which led the students of Film and Audiovisual Communication of the Central University to give free rein to their imagination in a short film of murders they wanted to make. Oliver began some time ago to create the script for his work, although he couldn't find the perfect location for a story of this type in accordance with his pretensions of making the audience feel real terror.        Suddenly the camera filmed something lurking in the shadows of the trees and the cold humidity of those places made it much more uncomfortable to be there, the young cameraman immediately felt a shiver down his spine as his body trembled with panic sensing that something bad was going to happen. He felt behind him a sound of branches breaking, fear did not allow him to turn around, he simply ran in the direction of his friends, escaping from a creature that he had not even seen but that he assumed was real.

       He arrives almost out of breath and on the verge of hysteria where his companions were, he urges them to run because there is something terrifying lurking in the swamps and even the animals are running away terrified from him.

—It looks like Sebastian is getting some acting competition—says Oliver smiling—, we're going to have to cast a leading man it seems.

     Just at that moment, an anthropomorphic creature pierces Renato's body with some kind of tentacles, killing him on the spot. Then, Sofia and Mario stand still, unable to believe what they are witnessing, unfortunately suffering the same fate as Renato. Luis quickly flees into the deepest part of the swamp, while Sebastian and Oliver yell at him not to do so, knowing full well that it would mean a death sentence.        In the distance both Sebastian and Oliver heard a horrible scream followed by a thunderous hiss that they knew meant the loss of another one of their friends, the only thing they could do was run towards the vehicle if they wanted to save their lives. Once inside they thought they were safe, but then in the distance they saw the creature that was killing them one by one and looked like something out of a fictional movie, it quickly jumped on top of the vehicle to try and catch them, smashing the windows causing both young men to jump out. Oliver immediately jumped to his feet to continue his escape but his partner was injured with one of the windows embedding itself in his leg, preventing him from walking and leaving him at the mercy of the thing of unknown origin. His desperate call for help to Oliver made him turn to him for help, even though they knew they would not get out of that damned place alive that night. He tried to reach Sebastian but the creature quickly rushed to throw one of its tentacles at him, which he dodged with precision to run to help his friend who lay on the ground bleeding deeply, the creature upon realizing this stood still observing the scene and then turned and left without giving any explanation.

       Finally they got into the vehicle that had only lost the windows but still worked, Oliver started the engine to get out of that horrible swamp. As he did so, a story that his grandfather told him in his childhood came to his memory, about a group of friends who entered the swamp and never came back, it was only known that regularly an old man said that he witnessed the death of all those young people at the hands of the "Dringo" who kills anyone who enters his domain with feelings of selfishness. He never thought that life would put him in that situation and much less that he would almost lose his life trying to save someone like Sebastian, achieving that between them a true and sincere friendship would emerge.
