Aftermath | #Monomad Challenge

It’s been one month already since the typhoon Odette/Rai had severely damaged our place. And little by little we are moving forward, recovering from what the typhoon has brought us and basic utilities like electricity and water supply were restored gradually. But during the first week of the typhoon has been very difficult for everyone since all utilities went off and most of us had to start from scratch especially those homes that brought down by the typhoon. In these photos that I’m going to share are the faces and the severely damaged houses brought by the typhoon. These photos are my entry as well for the #monomad challenge of @monochromes.

First off, is the man that is looking at his house wherein it was totally went down as huge tree fell down on his house. As you can see the roof of his house was wrecked likely due to the impact of the tree, plus the gust of the wind, sad to say but he is likely to start over again. It’s just painful to look at how all the properties just went off all of the sudden. So with the house below the roof went off as well as it was likely blown by a strong gust of wind.

Even the Christmas lantern did not spare by the typhoon as the typhoon hits us during the 2nd week of December. Just a few more weeks before the Christmas day it was a sad present actually considering that we are still dealing with the pandemic.

On the other hand, during the day after the typhoon calmed down debris are everywhere and everyone went out to check outside. I saw this father and son who are walking and had to step over to the trees that fell down. It seems they were trying to check their relatives on the neighboring village and through walking is the only way to travel since most roads are not passable at that time.

While this kid here needs to walk as well just to get through the other village especially in buying something the family needs since most local store in my village are closed.

While the other kids seem not to the bother of what’s just happen and instead even smiles as they noticed that I pointed the lens to them which somehow made me smile as well despite of what the typhoon brought to our village. Somehow these kids remind me that we still have to smile no matter what life had thrown us, it’s just that we have to move forward and see the brighter side of life.

Above photos are all captured by yours truly at Alcoy, Cebu using Sony A6000 with Sony 16–50mm kit lens.

I feel so bad for that man standing there looking at his house. Alcoy and most parts of the south of Cebu really got the most damaged. 🙁

Also, I agree with you about these children reminding us to still smile. So innocent, yet full of hope.Everything will be over soon. 🙏
