(ESP-ENG) La tragedia de Macbeth: una increíble genialidad // The Tragedy of Macbeth: an incredible masterpiece.
Hello friends, good vibes to all.
When you start reading news about movies and those films that are giving a little to talk about, it is amazing the pleasant surprises that one is able to get, as it happened to me these days when I decided to see this super well-known story of literature made into a movie. This tragedy by William Shakespeare I remember having read it at the time in school so I had vague memories of how it went but when I saw this film I was really amazed.
And no, you don't need to have read the book to enjoy this story. I have to make the warning because I consider that this is not just any movie, I recommend you to see it if you really are a movie lover to the point that you enjoy every aspect of it because at the production level it is very particular and it is taken to a very dense world that may not appeal to many. But well, without further ado, let's talk a little bit about this new film adaptation.
So, what is the story of this knight named Macbeth about? - In a nutshell Macbeth (Denzel Washington) is a Lord of Scotland who was vehemently convinced by a trio of witches that he would one day be king of that nation. When his wife (Frances McDormand), who is an extremely ambitious person, finds out, she will do everything in her power to make her husband achieve his goal and come to power.
Where do we start? - Let's see, I can tell you that this is one of the best films I have seen in the last three years photographically speaking. It is impressive the staging and composition of the scenes, the play with shadows, the different shots always accompanied by the same play of light that makes a faction of a face change completely in a matter of seconds; in short, it is really a visual work of art, one of the best photographs of recent years.
As I told you at the time I had read the book but I must say that this adaptation made by Joel Coen caught me because it is much more sinister and disturbing, it gives a somewhat darker twist to a story that already has its somewhat dark passages and at the end of the day it is a tragedy. The fact that it was shot the way it was, in a monochromatic look, highlights the gloominess of the plot and the emotions are captured with more notoriety.
And those behind this magic is the production company A24, the fact that they are there is a guarantee of quality, in case you don't know, they were in charge of films like Midsommar, The Green Knight, The Lighthouse, among others. The truth is that they are changing the way of making movies and proof of this is this incredible project. But not everything is at the production level, part of the success that Macbeth is having is due in large part to its two protagonists, some of the best in the industry.
What Denzel Washington offers us in this film is a real acting class, as we are always accustomed to. If playing a character as complex as Macbeth is already a challenge to do it with the script and the dialogues that we saw, it certainly raises the level of his quality as an actor. Sober, convincing and very into his role are some of the things that can be distinguished just by watching the first ten minutes of his performance.
And the multiple Oscar winner Frances McDormand, for me the best actress that exists today. The level of interpretation is on another level, to the point that I do not see how to compare it with other works of other actresses, I firmly believe that this role of Lady Macbeth in the shoes of another actress would not have been even a third as convincing as it was with Frances. It is a character that goes through almost all the emotions of a human being (anger, anguish, fear, obsession, etc) in such a short time that just thinking about the work behind it makes you understand how this woman has four Oscars.
To conclude, a film that I believe today is not as viral as it should undoubtedly be and more so because I think it can be a serious competition in some categories of the next Oscars. An excellently adapted tragedy with dark and suspenseful touches that was very well done. A cinematography of supreme quality and at the height of the plot and its actors. Nothing to complain about, I still say it's not for everyone but everyone should still see it.
A solid 8/10 because it is a different kind of cinema, it is not something we are used to seeing and yet it dazzles with its own light. I would have loved to see it on the big screen, it would have been an awesome experience but it wasn't possible. You can watch it on Apple TV and has a duration of 1:45 minutes, I guarantee it and I repeat, if you like movies you will not regret it. Here is the official trailer.
¡Un abrazo a todos, nos leemos en la próxima!
Well my people that's all for today, I hope you liked it.
¡Hugs to all, see you next time!
La buscaré, Denzel es un excelente actor, creo que de todas las películas que he visto de el, no ha habido ninguna que no me gustara. Esta se ve bastante interesante. Gracias por compartir.
