We are still looking for movies that are out there and that are probably not so popular and commercial so we can make them known and give all of you who read me the opportunity to see them. It's not easy because in the end you don't know how good they can be, fortunately with the last two I've seen I've been pleased which makes me happy. Asura is a movie that I didn't know what to expect and it turned out to be an incredible story, heartbreaking, beautiful, full of feelings with which it is very easy to connect and empathize. All this going hand in hand with an extremely sad aura because the context of the character is like that, full of deep sadness and loneliness.

Seguimos en la busqueda de películas que estén por ahí regadas y que probablemente no sean tan populares y comerciales para así darlas a conocer y que todos ustedes que me leen se den la oportunidad de verlas. No es fácil porque al final no se sabe que tan buenas pueden ser, afortunadamente con las últimas dos que he visto he salido complacido cosa que me alegra. Asura es una película de la que no sabía qué esperar y resultó siendo una historia increíble, desgarradora, bonita, llena de sentimientos con la que se es muy fácil conectar y empatizar. Todo esto yendo de la mano con un aura sumamente triste porque el contexto del personaje es así, lleno de una profunda tristeza y soledad.

The story is set in feudal Japan when this country was hit by a huge famine that brought out the worst in people. In the midst of this situation, a child was born who unwittingly became part of the desperation that people were going through to the point that his own mother wanted to kill him in order to satisfy her hunger. As I said from a very young age our protagonist knew how evil and cruel the world could be, so he had no choice but to make his way and survive as best he could, in the end it is just like the law of survival, the fittest prevails.

La historia se sitúa en el Japón feudal cuando este país se vio azotado por una hambruna descomunal que llegó a sacar lo peor de la gente. En medio de esa situación nace un niño que sin quererlo formó parte de esa desesperación por la que estaban pasando las personas al punto de que su propia madre quiso acabar con él con la finalidad de saciar su hambre. Como dije desde muy pequeño nuestro protagonista supo lo malvado y cruel que podía ser el mundo por lo que no le quedó otra que abrirse paso y sobrevivir como pudiera, al fin es tal cual la ley de supervivencia, prevalece el más apto.

Because of this he grew up as a beast, he never had contact with anyone so his behavior was distant and cold. In this path of his life he meets a Buddhist monk who helps him and tries to save him from that life, he tries to make him behave like the human he is and that those desires to kill to survive are less and less, and in the end the only thing Asura has in his heart, as the monk named him, is rage and loneliness. Later on, he will also meet Wakasa, key in this story, since she will heal some wounds and teach him what kindness and good feelings are. From here on we will see Asura's journey and how he will seek to control that inner beast to try to be more human.

Debido a esto él creció siendo una bestia, nunca tuvo contacto con nadie por lo que su comportamiento era distante y frío. En ese camino de su vida se topa con un monje budista quien lo ayuda y lo intenta salvar de esa vida, busca que se comporte como el humano que es y que esas ganas de matar para sobrevivir sean cada vez menores y es que al final lo único que tiene Asura, así lo nombró el monje, en su corazón es rabia y soledad. Más adelante también conocerá a Wakasa, clave en esta historia, ya que ella en algún momento le curará algunas heridas y le enseñará lo que es la bondad y los buenos sentimientos. De acá en adelante veremos el viaje de Asura y como él buscará controlar esa bestia interna para tratar de ser más humano.

This is one of the stories that have marked me the most lately and it is not an easy film to watch. I tell you that it has its scenes that are complicated and rough, especially at the beginning, there is a very real rawness. It is a gloomy and somber plot as it is very easy to connect with that sadness and the struggle that little Asura is having inside, deep down he doesn't want to be like that, he wants what he lacked: affection, love and to be cared about him. But not being able to receive that the resentment and anger that dwells in his heart is sometimes bigger than himself. Evidently all this is increased by the fact that the world really can be merciless and even more so in the circumstances in which Japan was in those times.

Esta es una de las historias que más me han marcado últimamente y es que no es una película fácil de ver. Les digo que tiene sus escenas que son complicadas y rudas, sobretodo al principio, hay una crudeza muy real. Es una trama lúgubre y sombría ya que es muy fácil conectar con esa tristeza y la lucha que el pequeño Asura está teniendo en su interior, en el fondo no quiere ser así, quiere lo que le faltó: cariño, amor y que se preocupen por él. Pero al no ser capaz de recibir eso el rencor y la rabia que habita en su corazón a veces es más grande que él mismo. Evidentemente todo esto se acrecenta por el hecho de que el mundo realmente puede ser despiadado y más en las circunstancias en la que estaba Japón en esas épocas.

The interesting thing about this film is that we will not only see the sad or dark side, we can also appreciate how the human can be kind and concerned both in the figure of the monk, in Wakasa's by offering food and company to the little one and in Asura himself, who after so much, will try to be his best version every day. Honestly, there were parts where I was moved, I really felt the lump in my throat, especially in a scene of him and Wakasa which is very powerful and one of those that take away your speech for moments. It is a story that teaches us that we can always be better, that we can always fight with those demons we have inside us and that no matter what happens we will always have to get up and move forward.

Lo interesante de esta película es que no veremos sólo el lado triste u oscuro, también podremos apreciar como el humano puede ser bondadoso y preocupado tanto en la figura del monje, en la de Wakasa al ofrecerle comida y compañía al pequeño y en el mismo Asura, que después de tanto, intentará ser su mejor versión cada día. Honestamente hubo partes donde me conmoví, de verdad sentí el nudo en la garganta, sobretodo en una escena de él y Wakasa la cual es muy potente y de esas que te quitan el habla por instantes. Es una historia que nos enseña que siempre podemos ser mejores, que siempre podremos luchar con esos demonios que tenemos en nuestro interior y que pase lo que pase siempre tendremos que levantarnos y seguir adelante.

The animation is different from what we are used to see, it is a work of Toei Animation, more than recognized studio. At the beginning it may be a little difficult to adapt, but as the minutes go by you end up enjoying it without any problems. It is very realistic, the strokes are not the typical ones, but you can still notice the work behind it. The features in the people, the blood, the tears, the facial expressions, all that is very well done despite not being the most conventional. It's a short film, barely an hour and fifteen minutes so it's very easy to consume.

La animación es distinta a lo que estamos acostumbrados a ver, es un trabajo de Toei Animation, más que reconocido estudio. Al comienzo puede que cueste un poco adaptarse pero conforme van pasando los minutos ya la terminas disfrutando sin problemas. Es muy realista, los trazos no son los típicos, pero aún así se nota el trabajo que hay detrás. Los rasgos en las personas, la sangre, las lágrimas, las expresiones faciales, todo eso está muy bien logrado a pesar de no ser lo más convencional. Es una película corta, apenas dura una hora y quince minutos por lo que es muy fácil de consumir.

In the end it is a very, very good film with a story that deserves to be seen. I give it an 8/10, I honestly did not expect to like it so much, the truth is that you are very moved after finishing watching it. What is really worth is the message behind it, what you end up learning about Asura and all its characters and above all the way the story is told, at times it is tragic, then you see some light and so on, it's a roller coaster of sensations and feelings. Al final es un film muy pero muy bueno con una historia que merece ser vista. Le doy un 8/10, sinceramente no esperaba que me fuera a gustar a tanto, la verdad quedas muy conmovido después de terminarla de ver. Lo que vale realmente es el mensaje que hay detrás, lo que terminas aprendiendo de Asura y de todos sus personajes y sobretodo la forma en la que es contada la historia, por momento es trágica, después ves algo de luz y así vas, es una montaña rusa de sensaciones y sentimientos. Muy recomendada a todos. Les dejo el tráiler para que vean más o menos de que va.

Parece ser el tipo de película conmovedora que me gusta ver en anime. No había escuchado de esta antes pero sin duda la veré, sobretodo porque la animación me parece muy bonita y diferente a lo usual.

I loved this movie. I got a thing for tragic stories. Asura isn't really one of the best stories I'd remember first when I think of tragedy but it's one of movies I wish I could watch again for the first time.

I agree with that sentiment. When I actually watched it I got a little excited and moved, for everything Asura goes through and his evolution as a character it's a very cool thing to watch. But yeah, the first time hits.

The animation is nothing like what we are generally used to, as I say at first it is hard to adapt but then you get used to it and end up appreciating everything with different eyes.

Te voy a ser honesto. Disfruté a leer tu reseña, pero no creo que disfrute al ver esa película xd. No es mi estilo ver cosas tan tristes, oscuras y melancólicas. Igual, buena reseña.
