Hello everybody on Hive and especially the Hive Open Mic Community! My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from a small coastal village in the Garden Route about 7 hours from Cape Town in South Africa! It is beautiful here so I thought I would sing my song outside while my baby daughter naps – please forgive the odd breeze and the sunbirds (similar to hummingbirds) singing!

Welcome to Week 192 of the Hive Open Mic Challenge. The theme for this week is “Grateful”!

For those of you who don’t know, I’ve decided to alter my Three Tune Tuesday posts to be based around the Hive Open Mic theme of the week, and how I would go about tackling it. If you are wanting to take part this week, but need some help interpreting what kind of songs would suit the theme, please go check out my post here:

https://ecency.com/hive-193816/@jasperdick/music-three-tune-tuesday-133

In that post, I picked 3 songs that would be perfect for the theme, namely:
• “Morning Has Broken” by Cat Stevens / Yusuf Islam
• “Thank You” by Dido
• “Thank You for Being a Friend” by Andrew Gold

Of those three, let me try and tackle “Thank You” by Dido, but sing it a full octave deeper than she does! Here is the original!

Lyrics for “Thank You” by Dido

My tea's gone cold, I'm wondering why
I got out of bed at all
The morning rain clouds up my window
And I can't see at all
And even if I could, it'd all be grey
But your picture on my wall
It reminds me that it's not so bad
It's not so bad

I drank too much last night, got bills to pay
My head just feels in pain
I missed the bus and there'll be hell today
I'm late for work again
And even if I'm there, they'll all imply
That I might not last the day
And then you call me
And it's not so bad, it's not so bad

And I want to thank you
For giving me the best day of my life
Oh, just to be with you
Is having the best day of my life

Push the door, I'm home at last
And I'm soaking through and through
Then you handed me a towel
And all I see is you
And even if my house falls down now
I wouldn't have a clue
Because you're near me

And I want to thank you
For giving me the best day of my life
Oh, just to be with you
Is having the best day of my life
And I want to thank you
For giving me the best day of my life
Oh, just to be with you
Is having the best day of my life

https://ecency.com/hive-193816/@jasperdick/music-tres-tune-tuesday-133

• “Morning has Broken” de Cat Stevens / Yusuf Islam
• “Thank You” de Dido
• “Thank You for Being a Friend” de Andrew Gold

Y no puedo ver nada

Y luego me llamas
Y no es tan malo, no es tan malo

Y quiero agradecerte

I had wanted to present this song for the theme but I thought I did to practice a little more so I presented another.

You know the song so well, nicely sang 😊 nice seeing you sing and play friend.

Fantastic dear friend. I also considered playing this piece. I practiced it for several hours, but in the end, I decided on a less complex one. It has an incredible fingering. Your interpretation is amazing. Thanks for sharing this piece. I was a full fan of Dido at the time when this piece of music came out.
