Hello everybody on Hive and especially the Hive Open Mic Community! My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from about 90 minutes’ drive up the coast from Cape Town in South Africa!

Welcome to Week 159 of the Hive Open Mic Challenge. The theme for the week was picked by my friend from Nigeria, @jesus-son, and he picked “A Good Friend".

This immediately made me think of the song that basically served as the theme song for the very cute children’s movie “A Toy Story” called “You Got a Friend in Me”, which was originally performed by somebody called Randy Newman!

I also remember a video going viral of a father singing a duet version of this song with his 4-year-old daughter. I remember finding it very cute then, and even more so now that my own first daughter is 20 months old and visibly enjoying musical toys! Maybe in another year she will be singing along when Daddy plays fun songs! Here’s that version:

¡Hola a todos en Hive y especialmente a la comunidad Hive Open Mic! ¡Mi nombre es Jasper y les escribo (y canto) desde aproximadamente 90 minutos en automóvil por la costa desde Ciudad del Cabo en Sudáfrica!

Bienvenidos a la semana 159 del Hive Open Mic Challenge. El tema de la semana fue elegido por mi amigo de Nigeria, @jesus-son, y eligió "Un buen amigo".
