1962 VW Beetle Project --- Part 3

(Edited)

Heyo hivers! It's been a bit since the last update so I figured it was time. We've been working off and on when we can on the bug and boy did I have no idea what I was getting myself into with this. Don't get me wrong, this car is probably the best case we could have ever purchased as there is very little rust on this car and alot has already been done by the previous owner.

Holy crap, i'm realizing it's been almost two months since the last update and it doesn't feel like i've made much progress but I guess any is better than none. I've gotten almost all the removeable parts close to being done but definitely need more attention. All trim and dry rotted rubber removed (by whatever means needed see below), sanded (alot), removed most of the wiring and got the frunk ready for all new wiring.

Scissors worked especially well for this task

Someone replaced the wooden bow above the back window at some point for a whole $6.50. This piece of wood is about $250 now.... crazy...

A little elbow grease and rust inhibiting paint and she's pretty well ready for new wiring (coming next week)

The kid wants the car to be blue when we get it painted and I found this OEM color chart for a 1962 beetle.

IMG_0671.jpeg
@jakeimnotshure has this light blue leather that almost perfectly matches!
