Monster Hunter Alamat Doodle | Minokawa
Hello everyone and friends😁
I hope you are well and have a productive day.
I'd like to share to you my Monster Hunter Creature called Minokawa.
A group of Filipino artist in discord made an art jam " MONSTER HUNTER ALAMAT"
This time the theme goes (Pick any Filipino Mythological Creature and re-design it into a Creature that fits the Monster Hunter world,
if you pick a Human/Humanoid Creature, turn it into a non-human Creature design to fit the World of Monster Hunter,
you can do an Illustration or Concept art, as long as it matches the theme)
And here is my piece for my third doodle hope you like it😌

MINOKAWA – (Bagobo) An eclipse of the moon is a sign that the mammoth bird Minokowa has swallowed her, and that the sun and all the people on the earth will be swallowed by the same bird, unless the Minokawa can be induced to open its mouth and disgorge the moon – a result which is regularly brought about by the shouting and screaming of men, and the beating of agongs.

Digital Art Creation Process
STEP 1
Sketching > Lines > Base Colors

Monster Hunter Creatures have this huge tails that could make as their weapons. In my design I shape it like a crescent moon.

Make a clean lines after the rough sketch.

Put in the base colors this are subject to change depending on my mood of choice hahaha😆
STEP 2
Coloring

Block in the shadows (Multiply layer)

Put in some lighting (Overlay layer)
STEP 3
Rendering

Adding some textures.

Color correction (Color Balance)

Darken Shadows using curves.

Lighten wings for subsurface scattering

Wing adjustment. I think this will do but it feels just monochromatic, where's the fun in that?

Exploring color combinations.

Color saturation.

Setting atmospheric perspective.

Final touches.

aaaaaaand....
That's it we're done!
