Well, I guess this fly belongs to the family Asilidae which are hunting other insects.

Does it look similar like this one from the side?

The question remains which exact species it is. Your pictures neither show the mouth parts nor the abdomen. If you say the fly looks similar to a dragonfly it could be a member of the subfmily Leptogastrinae.

In general if you want to determine an insect species it always helps to see the full body of the insect and also to know where exactly it has been found (and in which part of the year).

I knew it when I searched the different types of flies I saw it looks like a Robber fly too and I think you're right it's belongs to the family of Asilidae. Thanks for the clarification much apperiated.
