Apocalyptic Homesteading (Day 1098)

Hello Everyone!

A sunny day at last, Ye ole nightly espresso, Burning the burnables & Cleaning the cabin!

Alright, the sun has not yet set but it is rapidly sinking over the horizon... so I guess that I am 'right on track' with my new writing routine. The only thing that I am doing differently than usual this evening... is not brewing a fresh pot of nightly espresso. We will see how long that last because barely two sentences into writing this entry I can already tell the difference!

Surprisingly the weather cleared up and it was a super nice day... and even all the clouds went away... which was awesome given just how dreary and gloomy things have been lately. From the looks of the forecast there will be one more good day of weather before some severe thunderstorms roll into the area... so I best make the most of it while it holds.

Ha! I did not make it very far into this without wanting to have some fresh espresso... and had to pause to set some to brewing. Somehow I was under the impression that this watered down concoction in my cup would 'get me through' but that just is not the case. I am unsure if it is the routine of having it each night... or if I am simply fatigued... or I am a total addict of the stuff... but I am inclined to think that it is some combination of all of those things!

Anyways, I had a pretty wonky start to my day because after finishing my posting routine last night I decide to 'peek' at a coding project... and got totally sucked in from there. Of course one thing lead to another after that and I was up until somewhere around four in the morning before I realized the time... and then it was almost dawn before I could get my mind to rest and finally fall asleep.

Somehow after all of that... I wound up waking up around nine and although I was feeling a bit stiff... I was none the worse for wear. I at first attempted to avoid getting sucked back into the coding projects this morning... but I wound up working on them throughout most of the day! I got so involved that I did not even start doing stuff outdoors until late in the afternoon... which was fine and all... because I still had plenty of time to do the things that needed done.

Since the fire that I had the other day kind of fizzled out (due to my lack of tending it) there was a bunch of stuff that was still in there that needed burning. I also had a good bit of burnables that had piled up in the corner of the cabin and wanted to get them burned as well.

As far as firewood goes I gotta admit that I really slacked off this year with it... and today I wound up trotting around (with the wagon) collecting some branches from around the shelter site just to have enough to get a good fire going. Maybe once these big storms roll through over the coming days they will knock down some more branches... so I can keep being lazy about it and just gathering up stuff from around the dog yard!

The only other thing that I got done today besides my usual chores was doing more cleaning in the cabin and tidying things up outdoors before that bad weather arrives. Considering that I am still dealing with the grit from the last time things got stormy... I am not exactly looking forward to it happening again so soon... so I figured that I may as well do what I can... before I am stuck indoors for a few days in a row.

Well, I do not have much else to report for today and my little brain is a bit on the fatigued side of things... so ta ta for now. I hope that everyone is doing well and has a nice time.
