The One Thing Will Lead To Lasting Success

It is one thing to achieve success...it's totally a different thing to achieve lasting success.

We sometimes hear about some successful sports star...or musician, which are on his/her way up the ladder of success.

The musician has a great hit and achieves amazing results...just to fade away and never be heard of again. The sports star manages to win a world title...and then not only lose the title but also the fortune he/she accumulated up until then.

It often goes hand-in-hand with the mismanagement of funds and sometimes even alcohol and drug abuse.

Why does this happen to people?

There is an ancient Indian proverb that I think holds the answer to this in many cases.

Certain things catch the eye. But pursue only those that capture the heart. ~ Ancient Indian Proverb

Being active online, many of us are looking for opportunities to earn some income online. And I think this hits home for many of us.

There is also an age-old saying that says "seeing is believing". Yet, in many cases today, I think we need to start thinking more in the way of "don't believe everything you see".

There are so many flashy things to catch the eye. The promises of instant cash or wealth, becoming a millionaire in 6 months, making money while you sleep...etc.

We are often warned against this. Yet, so many people are still falling victim to these scams.

On the other hand, there are often people who are really prepared to put in the effort and work hard to achieve a certain goal. But once they achieve that goal, it's as if that whole "castle" just collapses and comes tumbling down. They either don't know what to do after they achieved that goal, or they don't know how to handle the success and the rewards that go along with their success.

When setting our goals, we need to think them through carefully. In the case of our "sports star"...what will happen after you achieved that world title.

You might end up defending it several times successfully, but there will come a time when you have to step down.

What then?

Would you be ready and financially be able to start a business of your own? Would you become a coach, or maybe a commentator, or even a sports analyst? What will you do after your goal of becoming a world champion?

When facing a difficult choice, we often hear people saying "think with your heart, not your mind"...Plainly, we are just saying "use your common sense and not your emotions".

For the moment, your mind might be caught up with those shiny objects, but in your heart you know it's not the right thing to do...lol!

So, firstly you need to be willing to do the work (or pay a price in some form). There is no such thing as something for nothing...especially when it comes to success.

But, we also need to realize that life is a marathon, not a sprint. We need to realize that achieving our goals, will take time, and it will always lead to setting new goals.

The one thing that will lead to lasting success, is to pursue that what captures your heart and not everything that catches the eye.

I know I often become impatient and I want to get to the point of achieving the desired result. That just leads to frustration and messing up any progress that has been made.

So, for me, I want to start focusing more on those things that capture the heart, and ignoring those things that catch the eye.

Achieving what my heart is set on, will obviously bring things that catch the eye too, but that will be a benefit, not a goal.

I hope this gave you something to think about too.

Good luck with making progress on your goals for this week and may they bring you a step closer to your bigger goals!
