Photography Portfolio: Self-Portrait Project using Nikon D5100

Hi, Photography Lovers! When I started my photography hobby, I realized I needed to make money using my camera. That means I need to learn how to take portrait photos. That was the reason I bought a 50 mm 1.8G lens. As a photographer, I could not think of any person, to be my model in front of the camera.

I bought a tripod and a remote shutter, which helped me do some portraits of 2-3 people.

Anyway, it helped when I decided to take my own, self-portrait. I had no choice but to be my own model.

I am not even a fan of makeup even until now but I bought a basic makeup kit when I was working in a retail store that required me to wear makeup. But honestly, I sucked with makeup. I envy other girls who are really good at makeup.

I watched some video tutorials but I was so impatient. I enjoyed doing the winged eyeliner, though.

For the lipstick? Duh, I chose red. It looks good on me with my full pouty lips.

I was thinking of doing some sexy or boudoir shots. Hahahah!

Okay, just sexy, not boudoir. LOL

I went to my aunt's big house as it was a nice place for doing photoshoots.

Nobody can disturb me.

When I posted this on Facebook, I started to market myself and these photos as their new photographer in town. They can hire me for solo portraits, couple portraits, and wedding photos.

In the last photo, you can see how my friends reacted.

It felt like I was an ugly duckling turned into a beautiful swan. Hahaha!

Because I looked so boyish back in the day.

My friends knew I never wore makeup ever.

As a portrait photographer, I needed to learn how to pose in front of the camera. So that I could teach my clients if they were not really professional models.

Also, they have to be comfortable with me when I take their photos. The more comfortable they are with me, the more it's natural and effortless to pose in front of the camera.
