Happy Easter! Here's my Easter Bunny and Eggs Painting in the Garden using Gouache
Happy Easter, fellow Hivers! Last Sunday, the family spent our Sunday at home. Since it was raining, my kids and I did a painting session.
I searched Google for some Easter Sunday subjects and found several rabbits inside the basket.
I am using 90 g/m2 paper, 21 x 29.7 cm, a sketchpad I bought for my kids. Since I am using Himi gouache paint, I used it like watercolor, just painting loosely.
I wasn't serious about doing this as this was just a project I did with the kids.
Freeform sketching
Using HB pencil, I started to draw like this.
Underpainting
Did some underpainting for the first layer. The color of the rabbit is purple instead of the usual white/grayish. I don't want to waste my white paint. I love purple so it's a great alternative color.
Second layer
I did a second layer of paint to add saturation. Adding a third layer would be too much so I prefer to be contented in this one.
Outline the rabbit with black paint
I was thinking of using black fine liner pens but must encourage myself to use the fine liner paint brush. I was scared of painting animals, especially the fur/hair effect.
Well, it turned out fine so I move on to add some details on the basket.
Added some grass in the box
Looks like I am almost finished.
The original photo had some pink background.
Added blue skies
I decided to add some blue skies.
I added green color on the ground
Hmm, I am not satisfied, let's add some grasses and flowers
I used the fan paint brush for the grass. I love it.
I added hyacinth and yellow wildflowers.
I wasn't contented that I added those little white wildflowers.
I added red flowers. The garden is full of flowers.
White clouds won't show up so I decided to create some fluffy pink clouds.
Final Result
Voila! Here is my Easter Egg Bunny!
I really enjoyed doing this and I love my Himi gouache.
Hopefully, I could do more painting in the garden.
