Watch Today Beginning of my Village Wrestling Contest 1

Today was fun as my community went ahead with her traditional wrestling contest. Afikpo North, Ebonyi State, Nigeria traditional or culture wrestling contest normally take place every two years. Our wrestling contest takes place from month of May to June in every two years. Wrestling contest of Afikpo was founded by our fire father's. My father normally tell me certain things concerning formation of her traditional wrestling contest. He normally say things about unity, entertainment, and to show strength is the reason for the formation of her cultural wrestling contest.

I prefer watching my culture wrestling contest than normal WWWE wrestling. Gatherings of people from my community during wrestling normally make me happy. I'm very happy to have watched my community wrestling contest. It was entertaining and I loved how children gathered to make it more lively.

Afikpo North wrestling contest is among men. Before anybody will be allowed to wrestle with his opponent such person will have to remove his shirt. Such person will not wear any top on his body to be qualified to wrestle.

What and What is in such wrestling village contest

We have drummers÷ My culture wrestling have drummers. Drummers normally play to entertain wrestlers. If by chance there's a winner, winners of the wrestling normally come for the wrestling with dancers. Their dancers will dance ones they're declared winners.

Wrestlers÷ They're normally two boys or men who normally wrestle against themselves. If they wrestle, people watch to be entertained. For them to wrestle, one person will have to challenge anyone. The first person will come out to the middle of people who gathered to watch the wrestling for anyone who knows he's man enough to win him.

Atamaja÷ This is a person and he's in charge of wrestlers. Atamaja serves as a referee to wrestlers,,. Atamaja normally decide what happens during the wrestling. Atamaja normally remove his clothes and then have ld weeds/plant. The weeds serves as whistle for atamaja.

Ikoro÷ Ikoro is the biggest drum. Ikoro sound is normally use to inform people that wrestling has started. Hearing her sound as drummers play will make people to start coming out for the wrestling. Ikoro has a special sound from others.

Nkwaeka÷ This is for drumming. Nkwaeka usually support Ikoro to bring out well sound.

Today was a starting for my village wrestling contest. It's the usual thing that the beginning, children are the ones who entertain themselves.

I watched two children wrestled. During their wrestling, they spent only few minutes before they was a winner.
