Yellow (2) - Picking Yuzu Fruits 🍋🍊 |

The yuzu honey tea I got recently from online shopping reminds me of the yuzu fruits picking experience in Japan years ago. I was helping the guesthouse owner couple in the Kochi mountains on Shikoku Island. No large orchard or professional shears, as you can see from my photos, only a rusty plier among a couple of yuzu trees. But hey, it's a full basket of harvested fruits, plus the stunning mountain views in autumn! :D

The yuzu fruit looks like a bigger mandarin 🍊, but has the color of a lemon 🍋 (it's green when unripe). Its skin is rough and bumpy with a typical citrus scent. I like the description from The Guardian that "Yuzu is a fruit that originated in China, now tends to be grown in Japan and in its raw state is pretty ugly. It looks a bit like a lime that fell off a lorry and in fact tastes a bit like that, too – a sort of sharp hybrid of lime, lemon and grapefruit."

Yuzu tea sounds interesting. Is it strong? Bitter?

That farm trip must have been cool.

I've become a big fan of yuzu flavor after having it in ponzu and most recently yuzu beer. The beer was amazingly delicious and refreshing. The aftertaste is where the flavor really came out. My friend Daiskue of Shared Brewery makes it. https://images.ecency.com/p/3W72119s5BjW4PvRk9nXBzqrPWMsMTjNrXDPFFf138Z3LynUgoSwR3719RuqVTcrYgE2KdCkXs4v1dEy6J7BX1Xx28qFHmQTM12kX5L2VR1xtdatGYgaAJ.webp?format=webp&mode=fit

I'm looking forward to going home and exploring more of the yuzu flavor in various dishes. Westerners are really missing out on this flavor.

The tea tastes pretty sweet because of the honey in it.
I actually mentioned ponzu here in my Chinese writeup, :) and you can also try Yuzushu liqueur, or Yuzu HachiMitsu cocktail.
The beers look refreshing!

Hadn't had yuzu drink for a long time. With summer coming up, I think should get myself a jar

That's a good idea! Is it easy to find it in the stores in London? Unlike in Asia, it's quite hard to get it in Belgium.

Dear @itchyfeetdonica, we need your help!

The Hivebuzz proposal already got an important support from the community. However, it lost its funding few days ago and only needs a few more HP to get funded again.

May we ask you to support it so our team can continue its work this year?
You can do it on Peakd, ecency, Hive.blog or using HiveSigner.
https://peakd.com/me/proposals/199

Your support would be really helpful and you could make the difference! Thank you!
