Trout Quintet |

The fish swimming at the port in my last post reminds me of the trout I saw in Blausee. Literally meaning Blue Lake, the Swiss Blausee has an elevation of 887 metres and boasts crystal-clear water. It's located amid a green nature park which I will talk about in another post. There's also a lakeside restaurant and a trout farm close by. You guessed it, trout for food (sounds cruel)... But today, let's focus on the trout swimming in the lake.

As you can see from my photos here, there is an amazing amount of trout in the lake. I captured some of these pictures from the shore, and others from a boat. I particularly like these minimalish portraits shot from a boat at the middle of the lake, where the water is deep with less other elements. Plus the reflection of the boat has added another layer to the frame.

Below are more photos that I took from the shallower water in another part of the lake. At that moment, the water surface was dazzlingly bright with strong sunlight shining through. It's hard to see the trout and the gravels clearly, especially when their colors looked similar. Great camouflage for the fish I'd say! As I didn't have a filter with me then, I figured sunglasses could help as well, so here they are, more visible trout through my sunglass filter...

If you look closely, many of the trouts in this area are the Rainbow ones (I think) with a pink stripe. To be more sure, I did a quick search of the different types of trout, and here is some information if you are also interested:

the fishes are very big... the reflection of the boat that "splits" the picture in half looks very nice. And then the red and orange colours of the leaves in the water. i even think blue is the complementary colour to orange... the contrast is really nice. and how many smaller darker blue dots the fish have on their skin! i like the deep water pictures a bit better too, but i like them all. great shots

Cool to see you noticed the complementary colours. The fish skin has amazing details indeed. :) Thanks for your comment!
