It Doesn't Faze You

The coffee's gone cold again
and you just drink it anyway,
bitter and forgotten on the counter
like yesterday's newspaper.

Your phone buzzes with bad news—
another job rejection,
another friend who stopped calling back—
but you set it face down
and keep folding laundry.

I watch you sort the whites from darks,
steady hands that don't shake
even when the rent's due tomorrow
and the bank account's running thin.

Rain pounds the windows hard enough
to wake the neighbors,
but you sleep right through it,
breathing slow and even
like nothing in this world
could disturb your peace.

Maybe that's your superpower—
this calm that settles in your bones,
this way you have of moving forward
when everything else falls apart.

It doesn't faze you,
the way life keeps throwing punches.
You just duck and weave
and pour another cup of coffee,
cold or not.

Wow! That's being to numb to worries.

It doesn't take the pain away, I think it gives a clearer way on how to handle these problems.

The coffee ignore can be said to be a metaphor of ignoring the challenges. Well written.
