The Beauty of Lake Toba from Simarjarunjung Hill, Simalungun

We call it, the road of a million charms. Why is that? I will explain in detail. North Sumatra is one of the provinces on the island of Sumatra, one of the largest islands in Indonesia. North Sumatra has extraordinary beauty, blessed with a large lake due to the eruption of a volcano. Currently, the basin from the volcanic explosion has created a very large basin, the basin can even be seen on the world map.

Lake Toba is the center of North Sumatra province. Almost all roads leading to other provinces can cross this lake, so it is called the road of a million charms because of the natural beauty of Lake Toba. This lake is truly exotic, the views and culture in the area around Lake Toba.

Along the way, you can see a view that will not be interrupted. From the road next to the mountain you can see a very wide body of water. Lake Toba is not only a tourist destination, it is even more than that. There are many areas around Lake Toba, even across several districts and can be connected to each other.

One of the things that is the highlight of Lake Toba is its natural condition which is still maintained, even though some have been converted into cafes and tourist destinations. Interestingly, there is one place that is a favorite place for many people when crossing the city of Brastagi to Prapat, Simarjarunjung Hill.

Many people will cross this hill if they are heading to Prapat city to Brastagi, and vice versa. There are several points that are used as beautiful scenic spots where you can see Lake Toba from a very beautiful side. Simarjarunjung Hill can be climbed by car and motorbike, but don't try to walk because it will take quite a long time to travel from Prapat to Brastagi.

This just happened, initially we wanted to cross using a large ship. Where the ship can carry many people and vehicles, but my little sister doesn't have the courage to board it. So the only way can only be through Simarjarunjung Hill. There was a reason why he didn't dare to go on that boat, the trauma from the past when we were little and almost drowned in Lake Toba. Even though that was a long time ago and in my opinion it is very different from the ships that exist today.

Supposedly, the city of Prapat to Brastagi will only take 1-2 hours by boat. This is different from the route via Simarjarunjung Hill, which will take 3-5 hours depending on the density of vehicles. But, you won't regret it because Simarjarunjung Hill is very beautiful and exotic. So, this journey will be very fun to go through.

Once you arrive at Simarjarunjung Hill, there is a café made of wood, bamboo and a simple roof. We were able to relax our legs and waist after 3 hours of travel. This is still half way because it turns out the road we are on is very busy and there are lots of traffic jams in several places. Finally saw the beautiful side of Lake Toba from Simarjarunjung Hill.

Even though this café is simple, the view is extraordinary. It's like a master's painting. Lake Toba up close really satisfies the heart, pampers the eyes and makes you happy. There is a pretty good spot to take a moment with Lake Toba. It looks like there is a little property for taking photos, but unfortunately you have to be careful because some of the boards are rotten and dangerous to step on and stand on.

At that time the sun was very hot, but the air here was very good, the wind blew all the time and it was very refreshing. Plus a bottle of Batak 'Badak' soda which tastes similar to A&W sarsaparilla. I like different vibes than usual. Occasionally go on long trips even without a definite destination. Actually, I don't know what we will do in Prapat city later. We haven't even booked a hotel to stay at. Even though this is peak season, there is a risk that we won't get good accommodation. But if we don't get a hotel in Prapat, then we have to go home and return to the city of Medan.

This trip was made because of the long weekend last Christmas. Because Christmas and weekends continue and make it the right time to go on holiday with family even though the time is very short. Is there anything better than having vacation time with family?
