Hello everyone and all members of the community, how are you today? May we all always be given health and happiness in undergoing each of these routines. This time, I want to re-participate in the Pinmapple community by sharing my experiences when visiting various places.

Some time ago, I visited one of the most beautiful mosques in Indonesia. I got that experience when I went on vacation with my family in Sipirok, South Tapanuli. We took the time to visit and worship at this mosque, and I found many beautiful and interesting things while being here.

The Great Mosque is located in Sipirok, South Tapanuli Regency and is in the area of the South Tapanuli government office complex (Regent's Office). Sipirok was chosen to replace Padang Sidimpuan as the capital of South Tapanuli, this was due to the expansion carried out by the Indonesian government for the two regions.

This mosque has become very popular and viral over the past two years, because it has a beautiful building design and is different from how many mosques already exist. In addition, the location of this mosque is at an altitude of 1100 meters above sea level and is surrounded by very beautiful and green hills. This mosque is on the side of the main road and becomes the gateway when coming to Sipiriok.

This magnificent building is very beautiful because it combines Turkish and Middle Eastern architectural styles, besides that local elements and tapanuli make it a magnificent and very beautiful mosque. This mosque has one large green dome and four minarets and resembles the Prophet's Mosque in Medina. Turkish architectural style can be seen from the large dome that is often used in several mosques in Turkey. In addition, this mosque also has a very magnificent and beautiful entrance gate.

We can see the nuances and architecture of South Tapanuli from the many carvings that are similar to the design of ulos cloth (traditional Batak cloth). Red, white and green are the colors that dominate this mosque. In addition, we can also see the diagonal carvings that we often find in the traditional house of South Tapanuli. Calligraphy carvings also make this mosque more beautiful and interesting to look at. This mosque is very wide and large, it is estimated that it can accommodate about 3000 people to worship here.

For your information, "Syahrun" is the name of the Regent of South Tapanuli who built this mosque during his reign. He served for 2 terms of office (or about 10 years), and this mosque was built at the end of his tenure, as if it were a memento for the people of South Tapanuli. Many people also think that this building is a lighthouse project from the government.

Lighthouse Project

Do you often see a building or building built by the government or agency that attracts attention or becomes the subject of public discussion. We often term this development project as the lighthouse project. Lighthouse projects are often carried out by the government because they are considered easier than making policies that have an impact on the community. Constructing buildings, palaces, or buildings only requires architects and builders but building human civilization and making public policies that promote the welfare of society will be difficult.

Indonesia is a country with the fourth largest population in the world. The majority of the Indonesian population (about 70%) embrace Islam and of course, building a building that will be used by the majority of the population is a program that is often carried out by government leaders at the city, district or provincial level. Some of the buildings that are often built are the Islamic Center or the Great Mosque. You will not be surprised, when visiting Indonesia in every city you can find a great mosque.

I'm not against lighthouse projects like this. The development of public space and infrastructure is certainly permissible, but the most important thing is not to harm the community. The majority of buildings, buildings or palaces built by the government use taxes from the people, and many corruption cases in Indonesia stem from development projects like this. I pray that the Syahrun Nur Grand Mosque can be useful for the community and also anyone who comes to Sipirok, South Tapanuli.

Hi Isarmady, the Mosque is very impressive. Do you know if there was a special reason for this unique design choice as a blend of different mosque buildings styles?
