Photo Shoot.jpg

Hello everyone
How are you today ? I hope and pray, we are all always given health and also happiness in living this life. I am very happy to finally be given the time and opportunity to be able to participate and contribute to the Architecture+Design Community again and to share stories about my experiences and impressions when visiting various places that have interesting architecture and designs to discuss. So, where will I take you this time? let's check it out.

Some time ago, when I was delivering a hydroponic installation ordered by my customer. I was passing by one of the streets and my attention was caught by a new coffee shop on that street. I feel the coffee shop is very interesting to discuss and discuss. The coffee shop is called Revella Coffee, a coffee shop that has received many positive reviews from residents of Medan City.

Revella Coffee
Revella Coffee is a coffee shop which is the newest destination for coffee connoisseurs in Medan City. This coffee shop is located at Abdul Hakim Street no. 9 Medan Selayang District – Medan City. We will have no problem to finding this coffee shop, because this coffee shop is very different from surrounding area

I come to Revella Coffee in the late afternoon. The weather was starting to get cloudy but it still didn't rain. At the front, we will be greet with a minimalist gate with the words "Revella" at the top. The concept of this gate building, is like the entrance to this coffee shop.

The location of this coffee shop is very strategic, One of the biggest reasons is, this coffee shop is not far from the city center and also close to the University of North Sumatra, one of the campuses with the most students on The Sumatra Island - Indonesia. Because of that, the Medan Selayang District area is one of the districts that has lots of cafes, coffee shops and hangout spots. For sure, there are tens of thousands of students on that campus and it is a very lucrative target market.

So, what's interesting about this coffee shop? what makes this coffee shop different from other coffee shops and cafes around the area.

Outdoor Space Area with Amazing View

In my opinion, Revella Coffee offers one thing that is different from other coffee shops around the area. Revella Coffee offers an outdoor space that is designed beautifully and stylishly but is also one of the coffee shops in Medan City that has the most different views. At Revella Coffee, we are treated to a view of a tall apartment building surrounded by green rice fields.

I feel, the owner or designer of this coffee shop has a very good sense of view. The design of this outdoor area was made by optimizing the experience of visitors to see the view around this coffee shop. We can see it from the design of the concrete fence that is made around this coffee shop, only 90-100 cm high. In fact, even when we sit on a chair, we can still see the rice fields beside this coffee shop. Moreover, the 24-storey apartment building behind the coffee shop further enhances the landscape design of the coffee shop area. Because of that, Revella Coffee is a place to relieve stress and heal.

The outdoor area of Revella Coffee is the area with the most number of tables and chairs. I noticed that almost 80% of the seating area spots are in the outdoor area. One interesting thing, this coffee shop manages the spot seating area very well.

The outdoor area of this coffee shop is divide into five big points. I can see from the cement floor that is used in this outdoor area that they are interconnected. In addition, in the middle there is an area that seems to be use as a stage.

There is one seating area spot in the outdoor area of Revella Coffee that caught my attention. This spot area is not too wide, but the design looks like it's being surrounded by four pillars and what's interesting is that the top is given like a white cloth that seems to be used to reduce heat from the sun.

Spot seating in this area looks very pretty and aesthetically pleasing to me, especially if you see some of the plants planted around this coffee shop as a beautiful background.

For furniture used in the outdoor space area from Revella Coffee. I feel that this coffee shop has used the right furniture, namely iron furniture that is resistant to changes in weather such as heat and rain. The design of the furniture is also very stylish, combined with the pebble floors used in some of the outdoor areas of this coffee shop making everything look like one inseparable design unit.

Indoor Space

The biggest attraction of Revella Coffee is the outdoor area, however, this coffee shop also has an indoor area which is also made with a very interesting concept and design. The indoor space building from Revella Coffee is not too wide and also has to be shared with the coffee bar area and also the kitchen. However, it is still very comfortable for us to use.

This Indoor Space is a closed room with air walls, and is the only room with air conditioning in this coffee shop. The architectural concept highlighted in this room is industrial minimalism. We can see from the domination of gray and white colors obtained from the cement floors, walls and also the furniture used in this coffee shop.

I also like the design of the furniture used in this indoor space. If the outdoor area is dominated by tables and chairs, it is perfect for hanging out. The indoor space area from Rivella Coffee uses a combination of iron and wood furniture with a minimalist furniture design. Each table and chair is designed to be very comfortable and in the right proportions. If you come alone and want to study or work, this indoor area can be the right choice.

In addition, several corners of this indoor building get a very beautiful touch of interior design. Like a large mirror that is displayed in the corner of the wall and side by side with the coffee shelf, it looks very aesthetic.

One thing that is interesting when I visited this coffee shop was that the visitors who came were teenagers or students with an age range of around 17-25 years. I think, for now, the design and architectural concepts made by these two copies have been able to attract the attention of visitors who come. So, I only have one question. Will the visitors who come later become loyal customers or are they just one-hit visitors who come for social media content needs? No one knows.
