Design and Architecture of AIU Cafe

Hello everyone,
How are you all? I hope we are all given health and happiness in life. I am so happy, that I can still be given a great opportunity to participate in the Architecture and Design Community, in sharing the spectacular experiences in which I was a part, and learning a lot from what I get in many places that have architecture and design both interior and exterior. So, keep on reading my post below.

As you know, there are lot of places to talk about, such as cafes, coffee shops, restaurant and other historical building. I always take the time to have a memorable experience every week, exploring places that have good ambiance or vibes in architecture. I always like to enjoy food and drinks in a café, restaurant or coffee shop, not only that, I also really like the visual experience in the form of architecture.

This time, I also had a very good opportunity to enjoy one of the cafes which is close to my house, not far, only 1 km away, a journey that can be reached on foot. In fact, it's so close to my house, I didn't even know this café was very famous among millennials, because this café is located on a narrow street in an alley, it's called AIU Café, located on Jl. Java, Medan Sunggal.

AIU Café

Lest to talk about AIU Café, located on Jl. Jawa, Gang PTP No. 27, is located in a very small alley, even if only 1 car can pass through it, but seriously, this place is so very suitable to be called 'Hidden Gems'. Why not? This AIU Café has just been established, even just running 3-4 months ago since its grand opening, but many people are talking about this place which is very worthy as an aesthetic café in the city of Medan.

Really, not many have this aesthetic Korean café concept in the city of Medan. Most of the cafes have a minimalist, industrial, or glamorous concept, but AIU Café is different, you can see some of my posts on Architecture and Design, few have a concept like this. With a concept like this, AIU Café deserves to be labeled a viral café which is loved by young people, especially millennials.

Architectural and Interior Design

AIU Café is a building consisting of 2 floors, but from the exterior you wouldn't think this building has 2 floors. With a clean, aesthetic and slightly 'girly' exterior, this café looks simple from the outside. With white paint on the walls, peach-colored doors and also the watermark 'AIU Café' with a simple black times new roman font. The impression is so simple but makes us interested to enter the cafe.

Suprisingly, I came when the sun was hot, at 11.00am to be precise. The cafe looks so beautiful if you come during the day like this, because all parts of the cafe are exposed to sunlight. Almost all of the walls are given clear glass which can be seen from outside and inside the room, the whole indoor depends on sunlight. That's why, this café looks so cheerful with some amazing interiors.

Korean Aesthetic Concept Design

Likewise, the Korean aesthetic concept that they attach to the true identity of this café. Strong on a number of properties that they highlight and show off, including being on the table that they use to showcase several desserts and breads. Selling a variety of pastries, ranging from slice cakes, garlic bread and dessert boxes, at various prices as well.

The cafe is strong on desserts and coffee, but also sells some savory menus, but only as a complement. So it's clear, the concept of this café is aimed at 'chill and cheers', chill with cake, cheers with coffee and beverages. In my opinion, many people come to AIU Café to enjoy relaxing time with friends, but it is not suitable for working from the café, because the tables and chairs they provide are not comfortable enough for working. But, it works for you to chill with friends or partners. I was with my wife and we seemed very happy to sit together and talk casually, because my wife loves dessert so much, she is a dessert enthusiast that I know very well.

Second Floor AIU Café

Some sides of the café are indeed very aesthetic, not only on the 1st floor, the 2nd floor is also unique and this is the best part for Instagram feed lovers, because it is provided for that. The 2nd floor has the best photo spots at AIU Café, with a floor that uses synthetic grass and there is also a building that looks like a house (but not a real house) which is painted in a quite unique pink color.

I remember a pet café somewhere in the city of Medan, the second floor is similar like this cafe. I think to enjoy on the second floor, you have to come in the afternoon, because during the day it's very hot and it can burn your skin. You must know that this place is truly amazing in terms of interior and exterior. This AIU café is suitable for you who like selfies and enjoy time with friends. You can try to come and enjoy coffee and dessert that you like.
