Information on African oil palm(Elaeis guineensis).

The African oil palm is very nutritious and can serve as antioxidant, very helpful in providing vitamins. The process in this region is somehow stressful and I see it as one of the processes that can't be taken without the farmer being dirty.

To carry out the production process, it starts with the following using using manual labor.

1. Havesting of the palm fruit.
It is not up to a month I harvested the palm fruit but due to how productive the palm is, it is now red again for harvesting.
The tools involved in harvesting is a sharp Cutlass and sharpening steel which will aid sharpening of the Cutlass when blunt. In this harvesting being extra careful is needed as you easily get injured in the process. The harvesting is about cutting the palm fruit from the palm trees.

2. Gathering the palm fruits.
This process requires picking the heads from different palm trees for easy separation.
Over here we allow the palm fruit after being cut to stay for few days so that it will be soft. When it's soft, it is to hit it with a Cutlass and the seed will fall out. They are other processes too but I see this as the easiest and also helps increase the quantity of oil due to how soft it will be. After you are done picking the seeds the next process follows.

3. Boiling.
The process in this part of the country we use fire wood to boil it before it's milled. Before now the process was far more complicated as it requires pounding, which doesn't encourage production in high quantity but technology has made the process a bit easy. After boiling it, milling(grinding) will take place.

4. Separation of the fibers from the kernel.
After grinding this process follows to allow easy pressing of the fibers for to get oil.

The Kernel can be used in production of kernel oil(local oil) it is used in treatment of some skin diseases.

5. Pressing of the Fibers.
This process does not take up to thirty minutes as oil will come out.

6. Boiling of the oil pressed.
After pressing they're some other particles or content that is not red oil, to separate it requires boiling for it to sediment.
The boiling also cause the oil to taste sweet.
From there you can pour the oil into any gallon of your choice for easy transportation.
