No sé.

This week I had to go downtown Maracay, it is something I do frequently to solve some purchases of products that I do not get in my area, since I live on the outskirts of the city, about ten kilometers from the center.
This time the visit was motivated by a medical issue, my wife needed to have some panoramic dental x-rays and the doctor demanded that they were from a place located in the center of the city. We agreed and while she had the study done I took the opportunity to do some shopping and then we would meet at the Maestranza.
We both arrived almost at the same time, the daylight was beautiful and as there was no hurry we went around and took some pictures.
This time of the year is one of the most beautiful in Maracay, the rains keep the greenness of the city in its maximum splendor, especially in the mountains, and the sky is always clean and bright.
La Maestranza is one of the icons of the city, a must for locals and strangers, a meeting place for bohemia and family.
My visit coincided with what we call the rigid week. Here in Venezuela, among the control measures of covid-19, we have a scheme of operation called seven for seven, which is that one week certain activities are allowed and the other are prohibited, this makes that in the rigid week the volume of people on the street is much lower. The truth is that the center was with very few people, ideal for walking peacefully.
While walking through the Maestranza I felt a little nostalgic. I really missed some elements of the landscape such as the raspados, hot dog and cotton candy vendors. The truth is that I don't know since when they won't be there, that day I missed them.
That part of downtown Maracay is very dear to me. When my children were little I took them many times to ride bicycles, to feed the pigeons and eat hot dogs. I used to take my father to the bullfights, my old man was a big fan of the fiesta brava.
From another time I also remember that the area had a lot of nightlife. All around the outside of the Maestranza there were small places that served as a meeting point for the bohemian Maracayera. You could always enjoy a concert, poetry recitals, art exhibitions, book baptisms, have a coffee or a beer on a terrace, and many activities typical of city life.
I asked one of the people walking around and they told me that from time to time they still do one or another event. The truth is that I haven't been out at night for quite some time, and of course I'm not the best reference to know how things are going on in that aspect.
Anyway, I am one of those who never get tired of visiting those places again and again. It is true that they knew better times and today they are a bit run down. But there is something there that always makes me feel good. I don't know. Maybe it's that thing they call "querencia", that affection that one develops for the places where one has spent one's life...
Thanks for your time.
