What Do Babies Dream About?

They Listen as They Sleep

We had a funny experience with our baby the other day. The midwife was over to do some tests, specifically a hearing test. Our baby is showing every sign that he can hear, but the test is one of those required things.

We put the sensors on his head and connected it to the machine. It senses brain activity. Then we placed little "ear buds" in his ears that play a sound. Checking the monitor, baby's brain activity was through the roof!

But what was strange was that he looked like he was sleeping. Eyes closed, nursing mama, zonked out. Or so it would seem.

While we were doing the test, the other children were near by making a loud commotion over a game they were playing on the iPad. I suggested maybe having the other children leave the room, so it would be quieter.

As soon as they left and the room became silent, baby's brain activity settled down. The sound was played and immediately the sensor detected that baby responded to it. Good hearing!

So even while baby is "sleeping", he is hearing and absorbing all sorts of sounds and thinking about them. What an amazing thing, the Most High has created upon the earth. Little beings that learn and grow only months after conception!

Bless His Holy Name!

Sometimes we do not even know what we dream about, and even if we know, we often do not understand (what we are dreaming and/or why we are dreaming it).

Speaking of dreams, tonight I had a nightmare in addition to a rather normal dream. The normal dream was first, the nightmare was the second. I already forgot most of the normal dream (and even some of the nightmare). If only I would have written it down immediately after waking up, but I did not. The normal dream was about some kind of travelling with someone, if I correctly remember, with my brother, and on some kind of island with motorbikes.

The nightmare was about zombies. I do not know if the normal dream and the nightmare is connected in events, but both of them happened in the same sleep. I was in some kind of building with some people. There were a child and his/her mother (I do not know if the child was boy or girl) (they were in another room), and I tried to hold the doors against a zombie. Somehow I managed to move to 2 or 3 rooms, but the zombie finally bite my hand. I did not felt any pain in the dream, nor after waking up. I do not know if the zombie(s) bitten other people or not.

I had nightmares in the past, where I felt pain exactly at the place of the injury after waking up. Now that is really scary/frightening.

I give you some !PIZZA and !LUV.
