We Are Alive! Projects Between Work Hours

One of the joys of working from home is the ability to have side-projects that can be attended to during the day.

One of those projects is OPERATION JUICE. It all started when I noticed my wife left behind some dry yeast on the counter. Normally, I would wipe it up and throw it away; it was a very little amount. But instead I filled a mason jar with apple juice and dumped it in. Why not? Let's make this bubbly!

I set the mason jar on the furnace register for a day and sure enough... it's bubbly! Tasted some and it was like drinking soda pop!

Upgrade to a Bigger Container

I decided I should go with a bigger container, so I poured my bubbly applejuice into a gallon jug of apple juice and left it by the furnace register. I poked a tiny hole in the top to release the gas.

There was some yeast left behind in the bottom of the mason jar, so I filled it up with grape juice. Let's make some bubbly wine.

After a few days it became bubbly and tasted fantastic. I'm letting this one go further so we can get real(ish) wine.

This is all from some bread yeast left on the counter from making bread!
