Von meinem kleinen Lieblingsplatz auf einem der Berge der Insel lässt sich an manchen Tagen viel beobachten. Für die Qualität der Bilder muss ich mich mal wieder entschuldigen. Zum Veranschaulichen worum es geht, reicht es allemal.
From my little favourite place on one of the mountains of the island you can observe a lot on some days. For the quality of the pictures I have to apologize again. To illustrate what it is all about, it is enough.
Was ihr oben gesehen habt, ist Waldrodung mit Feuer. Bisher habe ich davon nur aus den Nachrichten gehört, wenn der Prozess irgendwo außer Kontrolle geraten ist. Nun war ich live dabei. Das Feuer war nicht so groß wie mancherorts und trotzdem wirkte diese Szene unheimlich. Ein Feuer und niemanden stört es.
What you saw above is clearing the forest with fire. So far I've only heard about it on the news when the process got out of hand somewhere. Now I was there live. The fire was not as big as in some places and still this scene seemed scary. A fire and nobody cares.
Gleicher Ort, ein anderer Tag. Diesmal brennt ein Reisfeld. Vermutlich um Platz für die nächste aussaht zu schaffen. Könnte auch andere Gründe gehabt haben. Ich kenne mich mit dem Anbau von Reis nicht aus...
Same place, different day. This time a rice field is on fire. Probably to make room for the next one. Could have had other reasons. I don't know anything about cultivating rice...
Qualmt ganz schön und legt die Ortschaft in einen sanften Nebel. So einfach und schnell wird es in Malaysia geregelt. Bis dann!

Solange wir keine bessere Algernative anbieten, ist ein Feuer immer noch günstiger als Kettensäge und Benzin.
Hab mal was von Leuten dort gehört, die aus CO2 Zertifikaten bezahlt werden und illegale Feuer melden und ausfindig machen.
