I wish I had someone I could go to rock concerts

Just two days ago I felt a little sad again, because one of the national rock bands that I like (which broke up many years ago) did a special concert in the capital of my state, it is difficult for that band to present because its members live in other countries, but although the concert was in my state I could not attend and although I could make a lot of valid excuses the real reason is that I have no one to go to a concert.

FB_IMG_1683484256514.jpg

With my friend @chicalternative at a concert in 2015

The other reasons follow from the main reason, because it is a rock concert there is a small audience, that is, I don't have so many friends who want to spend their money on a concert because the situation in the country is difficult economically, so nobody in his right mind he would spend money to go to a concert he doesn't like, this is understandable, but the saddest thing is that even people who might like the band don't have money because every day in my country there is more inflation and more expenses, my friends in general are no longer teenagers who spend their savings on a concert, both they and I have priorities, among which are the payment of basic services and family food.

The vast majority of my rock friends emigrated from the country, which I'm glad because they are in a better situation, but I was left without these friends with whom I could go to a concert. Many will wonder why I don't go alone, the reason is that my country is very insecure, a single woman runs a lot of risk going to another city to a concert, paying for a taxi and a hotel completely alone, in addition to being at the same concert for being rock , the majority of the public is male, which is even more dangerous, in the past when I went to concerts I saw how girls had to hang out in groups with other girls or with trusted friends in order to protect themselves from stalkers and risks, It's no secret to anyone that if a woman is alone there will surely be guys in an ethylic state bothering the girl, so that's why I don't dare go to a concert if I'm not accompanied by someone I trust.

With my friend Javier at a concert whose year I don't remember

I don't like parties or going out dancing, so it's not a problem for me to spend a lot of time at home without going out, I'm not interested in socializing with people in an ethylic state, but I deeply love rock music and when I go to a I do a concert for the music, it hurts me a lot that my trusted rock friends are far away and that my friends who are still in Venezuela don't have the financial resources most of the time to go to a concert, I myself don't have the money but if one band that I like is performing I would do everything possible to save money, but alone I would not dare to go for my safety.

Sometimes people don't understand, if I save money I can pay for my ticket, my taxis, and my hotel room alone as long as I'm happy watching a rock band that I like, but I'm not going to risk my physical integrity by going alone, my The country is unsafe and that is not going to be fixed overnight, so I wish I had someone to go with and enjoy music without feeling afraid. I miss my friends who live abroad a lot, and I also understand that the few that remain cannot be with me forever.

Well, it's crazy here, there are extraordinary levels of inflation, our currency is devalued daily and there is a government that has not done things right for decades, there are also diplomatic and economic conflicts with other countries, even the US has blockade actions against the country . This has caused millions of people to have migrated, everyone in my country has family and friends who have gone to live in other countries 😔

I have varied tastes, I like gothic rock bands, post punk, but also some heavy metal bands

the national band that I wanted to go see two days ago has influences of 80s gothic rock like the Cure, something that is not common here because there are more extreme metal bands here, you know what I mean, that's why I didn't want to miss the opportunity 😔but it's OK I'm fine

ohhh thank you very much for sharing bands from your country, I don't know anything about your country, it reminds me a bit of European bands like Eluveitie, Waylander, Turisas and Korpiklaani. Do you know them?

😁

Yes currently I mostly listen to Powelwolf from abroad or Rammstein Feurschanz.

I go to masters of rock brutal assault, you know them. I would like to go to Wacken sometime.

I understand, that's life, you have to take advantage of the most accessible things, small festivals should still be good

Your reasons make a lot of sense to me, and I'm sorry for that, it's unfair. I wish at some point life brings a friend for you, whom you can trust and make a lot things to enjoy the things you like.

Sometimes I feel that the country is big but very small, there is not a large community of music fans to share with, the economic situation has also forced the majority to leave and those who remain just survive, there is little space for art or recreation 😔

It's sad that it has come to this, feeling afraid to go to a concert. I'm not a very cool dude, but if I was there I'd go with you. 😊

The first time I went to a concert was with my uncle and the second time was with my mom 😄 It's nice to remember those times, I was 14 or 15 years old. I'm 33 now it's hard to believe it's been so long

33 huh? Well I'm only 20 years older so maybe it's not too bad. If I embarrass you, you have my permission to pretend you don't know me. 😂

No! Don't do that to yourself. That's not fair to you. I felt this too, you know. But to form a separate group. Where are willing, to spend to support national bands or possible international. It doesn't mean I can't go alone. We as women can coordinate schedules before the end of the event. So you can get home. Even calculate the distance, where you can stay to sleep even in a family member and trusted friends who are not with you since the rock event. Sometimes leave little by little. Start creating new bonds with other women and men that you are really interested in forming a rock sisterhood. I sometimes didn't have the money to spend on alcohol, let alone the entrance fee to the event. But I did have money to pay for a cab or to stay until dawn at the same place of the event.

Thank you very much, it would be nice if we were in the same state at least, I am in Carora in Lara, I made friends at the university in Barquisimeto but they are almost foreigners just like me. Most of my friends from the city have left the country and it is difficult to coordinate with those who remain. I don't lose hope but of possibly going back to a concert when a friend does Tours in a van, but I don't dare go alone. Hug 🤗

In Barquisimeto they will make a tour to Valencia, San Joaquin. Month of July. They will make an event. The flayer is called "Satan". Motive of a musician birthday boy. My husband will play for this day. His band is crucifixion band. Hopefully it will cheer you up.

Back in Barquisimeto I have been there twice years ago. When there was an event near the terminal. Hehehe

oh what a coincidence, two days ago a friend sent me the flyer on WhatsApp, I hope my friends from here in Carora go so I can go with them 😄

Yeah! 🤘🏿 This is the one. You have the opportunity, send back the message, the one who passed you the flayer. These are signs. Most of the people going on the tour from Barquisimeto are old guard people, motivating the young people there. You guys, set the place aside. I hope everything goes well for you.🤗🤘🏿🤘🏿

I'm the opposite, I refuse to go to them anymore. I spent my youth going to metal concerts, gigs, 5-day festivals. The result is BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE in my ears forever.

So I'm spending the rest of my life avoiding noisy scenarios like concerts and learnt to love the softer part of the music spectrum, or use my noise cancelling headphones so I can listen to things at 30% volume.

But yeah it can be sad when you feel you've been left behind, and life wants to push you forward when you just don't want to - totally feel you!

oh I'm very sorry, my ears are very sensitive so I don't go near the speakers, it is necessary to prevent, I have a friend who became deaf in one ear due to the use of headphones with high volume.

Hugs 🤗

That is so sad... When I saw the title, my first thought was, obviously, why don't you go alone... Now I see why and I think that indeed the risks are too great. I'd like to be encouraging and say something like things will be better in your country, but that would be fake... Are you considering leaving the country? I say this because my own country has been through terrible times and I have both friends and relatives who went away...

I think that in my country all people at some point have to leave, but it is difficult to do it economically, in my case I don't want to leave my son or my mother here, so it means that I would have to have enough money to take them, it's a complicated situation Thank you very much for your comment 😊

That's a very delicate situation indeed. Here, unfortunately, many go to work and make money in various European countries leaving the children with the grandparents which is not a solution.

Greetings Irene. Totally true. In other times it was easier to attend, because in addition to the economic, one had with whom to do it. As you say, going out with a group and planning all the logistics was the best option. Things are not like that anymore. I wouldn't risk going to a concert alone again, there are too many dangers. I hope times change and one can enjoy those experiences again. Hugs.

Thank you very much friend, I hope that one day I can organize myself with time with the few trusted friends that I still have in the country, especially since I have not attended anything for many years, or I am very calm but I miss feeling the music in alive. hug 🤗
