Gamaken Amigurumi (Esp/Eng)
Greetings, I am very happy to post again after a few days absent due to problems with my computer, I am very sorry not to have been a participant in the last contest of this community, however despite not having a computer to publish I was working hard on it. project that I present to you today, this took a long time, it was two weeks of work and then due to health problems my work was very difficult, but I am very excited to finally share the result.
La odisea del material / The material odyssey
This amigurumi was in my head for a few months, but I was very frustrated not being able to find the color that was consistent with the figure, it turns out that this character in the Japanese animated series as in the multiple images that I found had a different color, in the description of some web pages said that her skin was red with black stripes, but in many images the skin looked fuchsia and in others it looked dark red or even looked a little purple, I think it is difficult to find a color that is similar really the real thing, but fortunately one day when I went to buy yarn about six months ago I found a ball of 40 grams of acrylic yarn of a very similar burgundy color, so I definitely bought it but it was a long time before I decided to start the draft.

Mi lucha contra la fobia / My fight against phobia
It is not a tutorial, although later I will say in a general way the process of realization, my intention is to tell you about my experience, my difficulties in the process and above all my motivation, I tell you that this project represented many challenges to personal level, since I have a phobia of toads, although I tolerate seeing animated toads when they look a bit realistic they disgust me, that's why this amigurumi is like taking the opposite of my mind and going up one more level in the way that I face said phobia. There was a point where I was sewing the limbs of the Gamaken toad that I felt bad because they actually looked like toad legs, it was a bit traumatic but it was all on my mind.

Motivación por el personaje / Motivation towards the character
Gamaken is a Naruto character that appears very rarely, this is a large ninja toad, for me he is the warrior toad most of all the mountain toads that are invoked by the personae Jiraiya (The wise man of the toads) To fight as companions, it is precisely in the last size of Jiraiya where Gamaken is invoked, which says a lot about his ability for close combat, he has a large weapon with spikes and a shield, he has a very great strength but Unfortunately the enemy they face was so strong that not even Gamaken could prevent Jiraiya's death, what attracted me the most to this character is that even though he is a super strong toad, he is a pessimist by nature and with very low self-esteem, he in the battle he blames himself when the enemy attacks reach Jiraiya, he apologizes every moment and says "I am very clumsy", this touched me a lot, seeing how such a great toad apologizes every moment for what what he c He considers his clumsiness, I know that he is a fictional character but in my heart and my mind I wanted to hug him and tell him that he was not clumsy at all, that what was happening is that he was facing an enemy that was too strong, but that he was not his fault.
I feel completely identified with this character, because I have many dear people around me who live telling me how strong I have been to face many adversities, and despite the fact that just like Gamaken I have given my best, I feel that “I am very clumsy "Even if he does things well, this pessimism that is at odds with his high performance at Gamaken is a bit of what my personality is like and that is why this character motivated me from the first day I met him.

Proceso / Process
Now I will explain a little the process that I carried out to knit the Gamaken amigurumi, I started with the feet, first of all with the fingers, separately each one has a black stripe, knitting only 4 stitches in a tubular shape at this scale is difficult, imagine having to add another color to it in the process, once I wove the toes I joined them to knit the foot whose instep is black as the black stripe on the toes continues, also knitting the heel is always a bit uncomfortable.
Piernas / Legs
The legs had to be a little bent, as I always say, every process has levels and I overcame this level thanks to knitting the Xenomorph figure a long time ago, that is how I learned to start knitting the knee, this character continues with its black stripe all over the leg, then from the knee I had to calculate the width of the strip according to the black strip of the foot, then I made the circle of the knee, then I took half of the stitches to knit the calf making the increases corresponding to the muscle and then From that I took the rest of the stitches to have the thigh, with enough increases to make the femoral muscle, this took me two days, in one I did the feet and the next day I did the legs.
Brazos / Arms
I started with the hands, first the fingers as well as the foot with their respective black stripe, the hands unlike the feet have five fingers, but these are longer to hold the weapon and the shield, the arms I wove them also starting by the elbow and then doing the forearm and then the biceps. I made the hands one day and the next day I made the arms, knitting things this small sometimes takes longer than knitting something big.
Cuerpo / Body
Although you may believe that the body was going to be easy, this was the one that cost me the most, because it is not a large sphere, the body had to have a kind of inclination that would make the back appear wider but that would give room for the head a a little later, that is, the body was not a sphere under the head, so I did it in two attempts, the first was a failure, the second although it met the expectations rest to be a little high for the proportion of the legs, however with the clothes and the other details of the figure this is not necessarily something to worry about, although the first day I had a bad time having to undo what I had already done for the second day I was able to finish the body.
Cabeza / Head
Previous experiences that have allowed me to approach different shapes other than the sphere, in this case the head is a bit flattened and wide, so I started in a similar way to the head of the pig that I shared a while ago, however, the head of the Toad has fewer rounds so it is less tall with respect to its width, I also had to calculate the location of the eyes to be able to start making the semicircular black stripe of the face, on the other hand I had to make an omen for the mouth as I was advancing, once I had achieved the objective, I wove the inside of the mouth with pink thread and sewed it.
Ojos / Eyes
For the eyes I wove a yellow circle with a black border, filled them in and created a concave space to later sew the eyes. Gamaken's eyebrows extend upwards like a kind of horns, so I decided to weave two parts separately with pointed ends and with two curves found with the black stripe, I filled it and sewed it on top of the eyes, then I embroidered the pupils with sewing thread. I also wove a light yellow circle for the ears which I sewed on both sides of the head.
Ensamblaje / Assembly
It is worth saying that sewing the amigurumis is my least favorite part, but I also do it very carefully, this time I started by joining the feet to the legs and the hands to the arms, after that I had to insert wire through the legs and cross the body with this one, directing the wire is a bit complicated, but what cost me the most was the arms because I had to insert wire in each finger, so that they could bend and hold the weapon and the shield, it is the first time that I have the fingers are articulated, so this was new learning I got from this project.
La ropa / Clothes
For the Japanese style shirt, I knit a triangle starting with a stitch and making a catkin at the beginning and at the end of each round, I left a space at the shoulder to knit the sleeves later, I continued the triangle until I reached the height of the waist where I stopped making increases at the beginning and end, instead I did three increases per round placing them equidistant to make the shirt flare. I picked up stitches on the circumference of the holes left earlier and knitted the sleeves of the shirt, lastly I knitted an edge of slipped stitches in white yarn for the collar of the shirt. For both the belt and the back harness I wove chains followed by three rounds of slip stitches.
Mallas / Tights
As I said before it seems that all the previous projects were preparing me for this moment, the meshes were made in a similar way to how I made the meshes for Nina Hagen's amigurumi that I did a while ago, this time I started with 20 chains and then I knitted mesh, alternating 3 chains and a single crochet for 9 in rounds and then sew. I made a border of black slipped dots at each end.
Escudo / Shield
For the shield I knitted with beige thread 8 points in a ring, alternating rounds of increase with rounds without increases, in the fifth round I knitted only the back of the stitches, I continued normally until round 13 and there I took a wire and I went laying from behind when knitting the last round.
Arma / Lance
Gamaken's lance is called Sasumata, it has a Y shape with spikes, if you fix the upper part well I wove it with a similar procedure to that I did in the eyebrows, that is, it has pointed and curved ends, for the part of the stick I used inside two lollipop sticks with wire inside, the quills are 3 points in a ring followed by 2 points and an increase, these quills are so small and in black that I felt that I could not see when I was weaving, but the result was my My favorite, Gamaken's weapon was what I liked the most about the project.
Resultado / Result
I think the post may be a bit long, but I really needed to share all the details because I feel that in this community there are many people who can understand my passion for weaving and creating characters, I really do not know if there is someone else who I have knitted this character, I googled and did not find any reference, so when this happens I feel doubly happy because there is a possibility that I was the first to make this crocheted character. I hope you are very well and I wish all of you who participated in the contest of the week in community good luck, for the next I will participate and I will not disappoint you. A big hug!
