Say Hello To My Little (unwanted) Friend

I recently made an acquaintance with an unpleasant thing. I had this stomach trouble for a little over three weeks. I thought that was nothing serious and all that was because of the Chennai Heat. The weather is getting a little too hot and these kinds of stomach trouble are a little common. Anyway, I decided to visit the doctor nearby because I don’t want to take sick leaves. Well, the doctor did the most doctor thing and scolded me for not wearing the mask. Yup, I forgot to wear the mask that day. Well, you can't blame me it's Chennai and the fear of corona is now low. It is either the infection rate is low or the authority stopped caring and updating the news media and social media sites. Anyway, I bought the mask from a nearby pharmacist and went in to cry about my stomach.

I am not sure what it is that set the doctor off but before I could finish my symptoms he completed his prescription. And asked for INR 700.00 just for showing up at his clinic. Although the Med worked and the stomach trouble went away, I wasn’t feeling basically my energy was off. Always tried and drain and off. But Hey, at least I wasn’t spending as much time lying down and hurting. 3 Days gone, and the meds were gone too. And guess who returned? Yup the stomach pain returned and it was not as bad as before but worse. I called in a day off and ran to the doc. It's as if the doc was expecting me. He prescribed the same meds again and asked me to visit a gastro-something doctor the one who specializes in stomach-related issues. Cha-Ching another INR 700.00 gone. So another three passed pain went away only to return on day 4.

I decided to visit this new doctor, who had seen all kinds of stomach troubles. And after hearing my story, told me to lie down, Breath in, Breath out, and asked me to stretch, asked me how my office life is, asked about my personal life. And he was listening at one point it was like I was getting counseling free along with the stomach treatment. He then told me to get my blood tested and asked me to visit the XXXXXX hospital the next day so that they can look inside. Now that is not something I want anyone to see. But I was out of options and afraid. So I agreed and good thing I asked them the price before starting with the tests and scans and all. Cha-Ching INR 2000.00 gone.

The Next day I showed up in the hospital holding my wallet ready to hand them over. Before they started the procedure they asked if I brought someone along, because they need me sedated. After signing a couple of papers they told me that the costing will be I being the hero asked them to perform it with local sedation. (Fun fact - The spray tasted like alcohol flavored Icecream, It's either that or I forgot what Alcohol tastes like). The procedure was done by a senior doctor, who was surrounded by a bunch of white coats with people in them holding notepads. Not a pretty sight I must say. When you are not a patient but a test subject. Anyway, the doctor was teaching them how to perform endoscopy with local sedation. Most of the discussions among them happened in Tamil and I was trying to avoid misunderstanding so I completely blocked them. My only focus was to keep myself from panicking and running around the hospital with a long flexible tube hanging from my mouth.

They gagged me with a mouth guard and instructed me to lie down and relax. “This won’t take much time. It will be less than a Youtube video.” These are the words the doctor used. I had this strong urge to comment back that I had seen reviews that are longer than the movies themselves. But good thing I was gagged. In goes the tube. In goes the camera... I heard them murmuring among themselves and I heard one white coat saying ‘not good.’ Probably she forgot that I was awake only my throat and food tube was numb. They collected samples. And told me to wait and relax outside.

The doctor called me in again and explained to me that there is a bacterial infection in the stomach. The bacteria is called bacterious fuckyourstomachilus (I forgot the actual name it's some Helio something..) is the reason for the trouble, and the bacteria is common 80% or above might have it. What's not common is your inside, he showed me the pics. Not Pretty. Apparently, the bacteria decided that it would be fun to cause inflammation in the stomach lining the entire stomach looked like it was polished with sandpaper. And best course of action is to bomb it with antibiotics. And that is what I am doing.

And this is a personal post, I don't usually write my personal experience here on a hive. Actually, I barely write anything at all nowadays. Probably has to do with my health and my laziness. But trust me when I say that health is very important because without health motivation fails. So take care of yourself and your loved one.
