Hello to all art lovers!!! And one of those who loves fantasy pencil drawings. ^_^

# Portada.jpg

It's official I'm on vacation, which means that I won't have to go to work for 3 weeks, hehe in fact that was my farewell with my boss and other colleagues: see you later in 3 weeks! But as they say, one door closes another opens, because I left the concerns of the academic closure of my students to the preparations for the Christmas dinner and the end of the year, and I only had $10 left to see how I do it ^_^

Starting an epic portrait

I continue with the theme "The Lord of the Rings" based on the sketches of the wonderful artist "Stjepan Sejic" take a look at his gallery where I got the reference for this drawing.

In the drawing of this occasion is a portrait of Frodo holding the unique ring of power

As it is a portrait I could use the 11 x 14 cm format, as always I started by making a clear sketch of the main lines of the head and hand, then I marked the lines of the scarf or cape and finally marked the silhouette of everything her hair as if it were an afro, when I was satisfied with the sketch, I start to apply the shadows, when it comes to faces I always start with the eyes followed by the nose.

After completing the nose I continue with the mouth, something curious with the lighting in this drawing is that it is very strong on the left side but due to the angle of the image the character is almost against the light, so I had to do a very good and marked contrast on her right side, I had to do all the skin with the 3H and HB pencils, leaving the parts where the light hits blank, when I started with the hair I used the 2B as well as with the neck, which is the most dark.

The character's hair is dark and curly, that's why I made each strand using the 2B pencil, but leaving white where the highlights should be with slight gradients, to add volume and shadows I used the 3B pencil and to highlight the contrast and shadows darker, use the 6B pencil

The hair ready and the head in general, I continued to finish the folds of fabric around the neck, in the light parts I used the HB pencil, and the rest I used the 2B, 3B and 6B pencils, I only needed the hand, in which for For obvious reasons I had to use the same tones that I used on the face, although before I had to redo it first because the ring did not match the look and it is supposed to be looking at you, to finish the drawing on the background I applied several dark tones in the same direction , and that way I finally finish with this drawing.
