Any Hope For Russia-Ukraine Armistice: Ukraine No Longer Keen to Join NATO Says Ukrainian President Zelenskyy
Greetings great Info-Warriors, I bring you this great news about the Russia-Ukraine war that has entered it's 17 day. It's the hope of everyone that has human sympathy in mind that the war in Ukraine should end immediately but I can't force everybody to support the end of the war. The current situation of the Russia-Ukraine war is at proposed Ceasefire condition initiated by concerned countries within and outside Europe. Early this week the Polish Foreign Minister in collaboration with the US Secretary of State, requested the parties to the conflict most especially Russia to respect the Ceasefire condition until the talks are over.
Ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine is to go on if Ukraine decline the intention of joining NATO or Russia will continue it's offensive attack on Ukraine.
Ukrainian government have waited for so long to be admitted into NATO but the NATO chiefs haven't accepted the proposal for a very long time now. This leading to the death of innocent Ukrainian citizens. The continuous waiting for NATO's reply means the continuous killing of Ukrainian citizens by Russia's offensive stricks.
On the 8 of March 2022, saw a different senerio as the Ukrainian President, Zelenskyy voiced out his displeasure of NATO members in this speech:
he does not want to be President of a country that is begging something on its knees.Source
Zelenskyy's statement meant a lot to me, this is because the proposed armistice is no longer needed, since the major reason of the conflict is Ukraine's proposal of joining NATO which posses a threat on their Eastern Europe neighbor.
Zelenskyy further said that:
- that the intergovernmental military alliance was not prepared to accept Ukraine, as it was afraid of confrontation with Russia and controversial things.Source
As said above, the Ukrainian membership into NATO is the element that has sustained the war in Ukraine and the Ukrainian government is highly disappointed by the drift from NATO members in accepting Ukraine into the military alliance.
Further on his statement, Zelenskyy is open for talks on the proposed republics that have been accepted by Russia. To him:
I am talking about security guarantees. No one has recognised these two territories but Russia, these pseudo republics. But we can discuss and find a compromise on how these territories will live on.Source
Based on the above, this means that there's still need for both countries to negotiate on the future of Donetsk and Lugansk cities.
Finally, what's the need for the proposed armistice when Ukraine's position of joining NATO is now divided due to the disappoinment from NATO members in accepting her into their fold. What'll be the state of the Russia-Ukraine crisis in the next coming weeks?
