Personajes peruanos #20: La Diablada_Diseño de personaje_Khawamaru

Hi, I hope you are feeling great
Cada vez voy conociendo más mis raíces y veo las cosas con mucho más sentido. Muestra de ello es que desde hace algunos días decidí cabiarle de nombre a este emprendimiento de diseño y tejido "Khawamaru". KHAWA, significa hilos de colores, poncho, tejido, también signfica observar con cautela. Y AMARU, significa sabiduría, serpiente enorme y del Totem Dragón (múltiples habilidades). Ambos vienen de la lengua Quechua, la más hablada en el Perú aunque poco difundida.
I am getting to know my roots more and more and I see things in a much more meaningful way. Proof of this is that a few days ago I decided to name this design and weaving venture "Khawamaru". KHAWA, means coloured threads, poncho, woven, it also means to observe with caution. And AMARU, means wisdom, huge snake and from the Totem Dragon (multiple abilities). Both come from the Quechua language, the most widely spoken in Peru although not very widespread.
Materiales:
Cuando tejí la Máscara de la Diablada, lo hice para ver cómo quedaba la mezcla de colores llamativos (entre complementarios, cálidos y fríos). Ahora, como será de cuerpo completo tengo estos colores en mente.
When I knitted the Diablada Mask, I did it to see how the mix of bright colours (between complementary, warm and cold) would look like. Now, as it will be a full body I have these colours in mind.

This was the previous design centred on a key ring. For this version I'm making slight changes like the embroideries on the dress. Also, I have more information about this character (you will see it soon). I confess that this dance didn't catch my attention before (and I love researching the origins of dances). Now I know what I want to portray and if you are observant you will know it too.
En mi país hay una gran cantidad de danzas autóctonas, identificarse con una sola sería muy complejo. A mí me encantan las danzas que bailé en el colegio. A tí ¿qué danzas te gustan?.
While I was knitting this Diablito, I remembered that dad once danced as a devil and he told me that the mask is heavy... Well, he is from Puno so he was a worthy representative, haha. I didn't dance, although if I dance I would love to be a devil too...by the way I was marking the steps and ended up exhausted, I didn't even last 5 minutes I think, haha.
In my country there are so many indigenous dances that it would be very difficult to identify with just one. I love the dances I danced at school. What dances do you like?

Realmente Perú es un país con mucho floklor y mucha cultura. Cuando estuvé residenciada en tu país tuve la dicha de admirar varias de estas danzas en el colegio de mi hija. A mi niña le encantaba la semana en la que se realizaban estos concursos de danzas tradicionales, ella al igual que mi sobrina particiban y les gustaba usar todos esos hermosos y coloridos trajes.

Hola Katty. Me alegra que te guste las danzas. En las Universidades también hay estos concursos. En la Agraria (UNALM) las danzas son por tipos, por ejemplo recuerdo que todas las facultades participaban con danzas guerreras, carnavales, marineras, entre otras. Cierto, cada danza (y pueblos en si) lleva colores característicos en sus vestuarios. Recuerdo cuando danzaba quería hacer lo mejor posible, como representando a ese centro poblado, jaja. ¡Que sigan las buenas vibras!.
Que bonito, es un trabajo muy agradable que va lleno de cultura. Deberías hacer una línea de estos diablitos para comercializar, serían un gran suvenir para llevarse desde tu país.
Hola y muchas gracias. Sí, ese es uno de los proyectos que tengo en mente. Ya soy oficialmente artesana en mi país (al menos en el papel) y este personaje será un diseño exclusivo para el MINCETUR (Ministerio de Comercio Exterior y Turismo) para que llegue a más personas en el mundo. ¡Que sigan las buenas vibras!.

No he participado en danzas pero si me gusta verlas.
En los actos culturales de las escuelas, sin muy coloridas y alegres.
Esta creación te está quedando muy bonita al igual que ese llavero esta genial.

Hola Ana y muchas gracias. Este personaje en particular es controvercial, quizá por eso no es tan difundido en Perú (similar a Las Sayas, Morenada y Tobas). Aunque estoy segura que es más que el personaje de una danza. Aún hay más cultura. ¡Tupananchiskama!.
