Amigurumi #117: Xander Foxwood

Luego de días de reflexión, es bueno hacer una pausa y recordar ¿qué nos motivó a hacer la actividad que actualmente realizamos a diario?, es decir ¿para qué decidimos dedicarnos a lo que hoy nos caracteriza?. Si, a veces seguimos haciendo algo monótono sin importar el “para qué” o el objetivo principal de adonde apunta tal o tales actividades realizadas diarias.

After days of reflection, it is good to pause and remember what motivated us to do the activity we currently do on a daily basis, i.e. why did we decide to dedicate ourselves to what characterises us today? Yes, sometimes we continue to do something monotonous regardless of the "what for" or the main objective of the activity or activities we do every day.

Aquí vamos de nuevo

Tras diversos retos y comentarios en la comunidad #Needlework, recordé que al inicio compraba lanas (las más sencillas) para tejer amigurumis de diversos colores. Cabe resaltar que la ventaja de ese tipo de hilos son justamente la gama de colores.

After several challenges and comments in the #Needlework community, I remembered that at the beginning I used to buy yarns (the simplest ones) to knit amigurumis of different colours. It should be noted that the advantage of this kind of yarns is precisely the range of colours.

Por ello, decidí tejer un amigurumi que tenía pendiente desde que salió el Juego de cartas Splinterlands. En ese entonces, no contaba con el conocimiento ni colores adecuados, dejándolo en la lista de espera.

So, I decided to knit an amigurumi that I had been waiting for since the Splinterlands Card Game came out. At that time, I didn't have the right knowledge and colours, leaving it on the waiting list.

Vamos al personaje / Let's go to the character

Esto lo repito en varias publicaciones: cuando en la tienda (en físico porque en línea se distorsionan los colores) veo la gama de colores, lo primero que se me ocurre es pensar en el amigurumi quien llevará dicho color. Por ejemplo, el color guinda sí o sí sería para Campanito o Xander Foxwood Lo mismo sucedió con el hilo de bordar anaranjado, este sería para los ojos de Campanito. En cuanto al color piel, esa lana cuanta también con una gama de tonos de color piel. Según mi punto de vista, una de las desventajas es que al no tener una marca registrada (formal), si se acaba el color ya no se puede conseguir otro igual. Además, mientras tejía botaba pelusitas por montones dificultando el momento tejeril.

I repeat this in several publications: When I see the range of colours in the shop (in the physical shop because online the colours are distorted), the first thing that comes to my mind is to think of the amigurumi who will wear that colour. For example, the cherry colour would be for Campanito or Xander Foxwood. The same happened with the orange embroidery thread, this would be for Campanito's eyes. As for the skin colour, that wool also has a range of skin tones. From my point of view, one of the disadvantages is that since it doesn't have a (formal) trademark, if the colour runs out, you can't get another one like it. Also, while I was knitting, I was bouncing lint by the dozen, making it difficult to knit.

Para lograr plasmar los detalles en el amigurumi me guie de un dibujo realizado días antes. Mientras dibujo, analizo la forma que tendrá cada parte del personaje y si en caso pueda agregar otra textura.

In order to get the details on the amigurumi I used a drawing made days before. While drawing, I analyse the shape that each part of the character will have and if I can add another texture.

Por ejemplo, para las alas utilicé lana acrílica gruesa. Esto con el objetivo de darle cierta rigidez . Además de un bordado blanco para resaltar las divisiones de estas.

For example, for the wings I used thick acrylic wool. This was to give it some rigidity. I also used white embroidery to highlight the divisions of the wings.

A simple vista parece una libélula, por el tipo de alas alargadas y la distribución de las venas en su interior. Y por los ojos de insecto. Aunque en su historia dice ser un hada valiente, quien aprendió a invocar monstruos.

At first glance it looks like a dragonfly, because of the elongated wings and the distribution of the veins inside them. And because of the insect-like eyes. Although in her story she claims to be a brave fairy, who learned to summon monsters.
