It is no longer funny in Nigeria due to the recent increase of kidnapping cases with the abductors demanding huge amount of money before the release of the victims. While the country are still battling with insurgency groups, kidnappers also increases their efforts in abducting prominent people both citizens and foreigners for ransom.

In less than eight months, Nigeria records about 111 kidnapping cases. What a terrible incident to seen in a country. Kidnapping cases gained ground in Nigeria since 2014 after which the Boko Haram terrorists abducted 276 schoolgirls from their dormitories in Chibok, Borno State, then kidnapping for ransom become the other of the day in Nigeria.

Just as at yesterday 14th April 2022, the Kidnappers who abducted Alhaji Umar Sani, an outstanding business who was abducted two weeks ago along Kaduna-Birnin Gwari about few days ago, was killed by the kidnappers even after a Collecting their demanded ransom through the man's family of they paid, even demanding another N20million upon his dead. The kano-base business was kidnapped along with nine other victims but later released three of them while six are still withheld captive.

SERIES OF KIDNAPPING CASES IN NIGERIA

There are the Various kidnapping cases that took place in Nigeria from 2014 to 2021. It is very sad that some of the victims lost their lives under the net of their abductors over their inability to meet the needed demands of funds for their freedom.

• On 3rd August 2021: Three of the kidnappers who kidnapped Wife of the Benue State commissioner kidnapped along side with her driver was killed by the Policemen kill and also rescued commissioner’s wife and her driver in Benue State of Nigeria.

• On 5th August 2021, the Bandits kidnapped the father of Zamfara Assembly Speaker alongside with five other persons

• On 9th August 2021, Unknown Gunmen kidnapped Niger State Commissioner for Information in his house.

• Same that 9th August 2021, a Pastor and wife with 27 other people was kidnapped in Kwara state in the church.

• On 12th August 2021, Unknown Gunmen abducted ex-councillor’s wife and her 7-month-old son in Zamfara State in their house.

• On 3rd July 2021, Bandit groups kidnapped 7 women with 4 children along Birnin Gwari Road while traveling.

• On 5th July 2021, Boko Haram group kidnapped Rev. Fr. Elijah Juma Wada of Catholic Diocese of Maiduguri while Sunday service mass.

• On that Same July 5th 2021, the same Gunmen attacked National Leprosy and Tuberculosis Centre in Kaduna State and kidnapped 8 persons in the centre.

• Still that 5th July 2021, about 150 students was abducted from school in Kaduna State.

• Then on 6th July 2021, the Unknown Gunmen kidnapped 4 farmers in their farmland in Ekiti

• Meanwhile, on 8th July 2021, another 16 people were kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Damishi of Kaduna State

• On 8th July 2021, Bandits group demanded N220 million as ransom for 11 persons they kidnapped at Anguwan Gimbiya of Kaduna State

• On 11th July 2021, kidnappers abducted Emir of Kajuru alongside his 13 family members with his aides at his palace in Kaduna State

• On 13th July 2021, Kogi monarch was kidnapped in his house in Kogi State

• On 14th July 2021, the Wife of the former Local Government Area Chairman of Jigawa State was kidnapped

• On 16the July 2021, the former Provost Marshal of the Nigerian Army, Major General Hussaini Ahmed was killed while his in-law was kidnapped by bandits along Lokoja-Abuja highway.

• On 18th July 2021, the Bandits kill one person and abducted 7 persons in an attack at Kaduna State.

• On that Same 18th July 2021, the Bandits attacked two vehicles and abducted six people who occupied the vehicle around Bade forest in Kaduna State.

• On 19t July 2021, the Gunmen kidnap medical doctor in Kogi State

• Still 19th July 2021, five Kidnappers was set ablaze in Edo state.

*That Same 19th July 2021, Unknown Gunmen hijacked a boat and abducted about 5 maritime union workers and 3 other people in Rivers state.

*Still 19tj July 2021, Armed herders abducted and killed 2 aid workers and Governor Ortom’s relations and 5 other people in Benue State.

• On 21st July 2021, Kidnappers abducted 38-year-old man in Jigawa state.

• On that July 21st, 2021 the Bayelsa Secretary to the State Government's mother was kidnapped

• On 25th July 2021, unknown Gunmen hijacked 3 buses and killed 2 people while abducted 60 passengers in Sokoto state.

Nigeria recorded the highest number of kidnap cases in February 27 2021 with the total number 605 victims, followed by July 23 and January 21 with 327 and 284 victims.
