Exploring Nature's Beauty: A Journey Through Lomellina

In the previous post, we left off with a nice bike ride I took along a beautiful cycle path that was partially inaugurated recently. I was happy to find someone interested in biking here in the community. However, sometimes I prefer to contemplate nature at a slower pace. Whenever I can, I escape the chaos of Milan and seek refuge in the Lomellina area, in the province of Pavia. It's a very characteristic and naturalistic area, making it a great place to relax.

In this post, I want to share with you some photos I took a few days ago when I took a stroll in this place. I ventured into the Acqualunga forest, which is quite unique because it's rare to find a forest with many years of existence in the plains. Over the years, this entire area has been transformed into agricultural land, so the forests that once characterized this area and helped preserve biodiversity have been largely eliminated. This place is called Acqualunga because it's characterized by numerous springs, hence the name.

When walking around here, you have to weave through the various rivers that flow through these places. One of the important rivers passing through here is the Filippone.

From my perspective, these places should be preserved because they are crucial for biodiversity. All this water you see is also used for rice cultivation, which is significant in this region and for all of Italy. There's a huge rice production here, highlighting the importance of water not just for humans in general but also for agriculture.

I always enjoy coming to these parts because, as I mentioned, it helps me relax. Additionally, if you're a fan of birdwatching, this place is perfect because you can see many different species of birds here.
