¡3 canciones para empezar la semana con energía! | Cultura Profética | [ESP | ENG]
¡Bienvenidos de nuevo a mi blog, chicos! El día de hoy les traigo mi reseña para empezar la semana con energía y buenas vibras; como recordarán ya tengo 3 reseñas en las que he hablado sobre artistas y/o bandas particulares en lugar de géneros musicales y hoy no será la excepción.
Hoy hablaré sobre una de las mayores influencias y referencias que he tenido en mi vida al momento de hacer música, hoy les quiero contar un poco sobre mi experiencia con Cultura Profética.
Welcome back to my blog, guys! Today I bring you my review to start the week with energy and good vibes; as you may remember I already have 3 reviews in which I have talked about particular artists and/or bands instead of musical genres and today will not be the exception.
Today I will talk about one of the biggest influences and references I have had in my life when making music, today I want to tell you a little about my experience with Cultura Profética.
¿Quién es Cultura Profética? | Who's Cultura Profética?
Cultura Profética es una banda de reggae y sus derivados nacida en Puerto Rico en el año 1996; la primera vez que los escuché, realmente solo había conocido el talento de su vocalista conocido como Willy Rodríguez, sin embargo, más adelante, cuando llegué a escuchar la banda completa, supe que son un «todo» cuando a sonido se refiere, tú escuchas los instrumentos de la banda en los primeros segundos de cualquier canción y sabes que son ellos.
Ahora, su música me parece exageradamente impresionante porque más allá del hecho de ser buena a nivel armónico o musical, también a nivel literario tienen demasiado sentido y concepto intrínseco, es decir, realmente escuchas los versos inmersos en las estrofas de las canciones de esta banda y es casi como ver una película en tu cabeza, puedes imaginar todo.
Casi toda la música de esa banda me gusta, sin embargo, como siempre, hay canciones que debo destacar por momentos particulares de mi vida al escucharlos, y esos son los siguientes:
Cultura Profética is a reggae band and its derivatives born in Puerto Rico in 1996; the first time I heard them, I had really only known the talent of its vocalist known as Willy Rodríguez, however, later, when I got to hear the whole band, I knew that they are a "whole" when it comes to sound, you hear the instruments of the band in the first seconds of any song and you know it's them.
Now, their music seems to me exaggeratedly impressive because beyond the fact of being good at a harmonic or musical level, also at a literary level they have too much sense and intrinsic concept, I mean, you really listen to the verses immersed in the verses of the songs of this band and it's almost like watching a movie in your head, you can imagine everything.
Almost all the music of that band I like, however, as always, there are songs that I must highlight for particular moments in my life when listening to them, and those are the following:
1.- Solo Por Ti ft. Jowel y Randy (Remix)
Creo que todo el que nunca haya conocido a Cultura Profética desde su nacimiento debe haberlo empezado a escucharlo a raíz de esta canción, porque en esa época Jowell y Randy estaban demasiado pegados en la industria urbana; así que vinieron a hacer esta canción que tiene un mensaje poderoso a nivel romántico y que además es demasiado comercial para ser música de un género que no lo es tanto como el reggae.
Acá ya pueden ver a qué me refiero con el estilo de las letras del gran Willy Rodríguez al que se le conoce también como «El Verso Terso» y no por casualidad.
I think that anyone who has never known Cultura Profética since its inception must have started listening to it because of this song, because at that time Jowell y Randy were too stuck in the urban industry; so they came to make this song that has a powerful message at a romantic level and is also too commercial to be music of a genre that is not so much as reggae.
Here you can see what I mean by the style of the lyrics of the great Willy Rodriguez who is also known as "El Verso Terso" (The Smooth Verse) and not by chance.
2.- Para Estar
Una de las cosas de esta banda que más amo, es su uso de las armonías vocales, siento que esa es una de las cosas que más amo en la vida particularmente dentro del mundo del canto, por eso en muchas de mis canciones he intentado colocar muchísimas armonías y hasta en mis covers intento también colocar ese color distinto a través del uso de las mismas.
Esta es una de las canciones que más he escuchado de ellos y siento que es tan hermosa que es demasiado difícil dedicarla, por eso la tengo guardada en el repertorio esperando ser utilizada en el momento indicado y siento que si alguien la utilizara en mi contra, sería una locura total.
One of the things I love the most about this band is their use of vocal harmonies, I feel that this is one of the things I love the most in life, particularly in the world of singing, that's why in many of my songs I have tried to put a lot of harmonies and even in my covers I also try to put that different color through the use of them.
This is one of the songs that I have heard the most of them and I feel that it is so beautiful that it is too difficult to dedicate it, so I have it saved in the repertoire waiting to be used at the right time and I feel that if someone used it against me, it would be total madness.
3.- Llevarte Allí
Todo el que me conoce, sabe que soy un amante empedernido de la poesía, cosa que pueden ver de primera mano en mi proyecto literario @deatrago, entonces, así quiera hacer arte sobre algún tema que tenga índole sexual, siempre intento que mis versos sean lo más sutiles posibles para no caer en banalidades o en vulgaridades que puedan herir la sensibilidad del lector y/o consumidor de mi trabajo.
En esta canción, supe que más allá de hacer un buen uso del romanticismo en los temas, también pueden ser demasiado capaces de hacer uso del erotismo para hacer un espectáculo sublime que podría ser claramente una invitación a tener intimidad.
Recuerdo que me gustó tanto esta canción que tuve que hacerle un cover el año pasado a mi mejor estilo, les dejaré ese vídeo por acá:
Everyone who knows me, knows that I am an inveterate lover of poetry, something you can see firsthand in my literary project @deatrago, then, even if I want to make art on a topic that has a sexual nature, I always try to make my verses as subtle as possible to avoid falling into banalities or vulgarities that may offend the sensibilities of the reader and / or consumer of my work.
In this song, I knew that beyond making good use of romanticism in the themes, they can also be too capable of making use of eroticism to make a sublime show that could clearly be an invitation to be intimate.
I remember I liked this song so much that I had to cover it last year in my best style, I'll leave that video here:
Bonus Track.- Quisiera ft John Legend & Flor de Toloache
Como bonus voy a colocar esta canción que ya han visto en otras reseñas musicales que he hecho, específicamente la de artistas que no hablan en español haciendo música en español; siento que desde que escuché este cover no pude hacer más que sentirme feliz.
De hecho, soy increíblemente fanático de que las personas famosas hagan covers de otras personas famosas, porque es como un súper honor ver esas cosas y en este caso, transformar el gran tema del maestro Juan Luis Guerra conocido como «Quisiera» en versión reggea, fue una genialidad total.
Además, pude ver dos cosas impresionantes en este vídeo, en primer lugar, a John Legend cantar en español y finalmente pero no menos importante, el conocer el grupo Flor de Toloache, el cuál tiene un estilo y un acople de voces femeninas increíble, escuchar este tema es un éxito rotundo.
As a bonus I'm going to post this song that you've already seen in other music reviews I've done, specifically the one about non-Spanish speaking artists doing music in Spanish; I feel that since I heard this cover I couldn't do anything but feel happy.
In fact, I'm incredibly fanatic about famous people doing covers of other famous people, because it's like a super honor to see those things and in this case, transforming the great song of the master Juan Luis Guerra known as "Quisiera" in reggae version, was a total genius.
Also, I could see two impressive things in this video, first of all, John Legend singing in Spanish and last but not least, meeting the group Flor de Toloache, which has an incredible style and female voices coupling, listening to this song is a resounding success.
