Happy MONDAY Guys! Let's review another motivational self-help book which is called as "Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us". This book is written by Daniel H. Pink that explores the concept of motivation and challenges conventional wisdom regarding what drives human behaviour. Here I'll share few points...

Here you go,

  1. The book introduces three main types of motivation which includes Motivation 1.0, Motivation 2.0, and intrinsic motivation, where the Motivation 1.0 refers to our basic survival instincts. Those basic instincts are driven by our biological basic and necessary needs such as shelter to live, water to drink, and food to eat.

  2. The second type of Motivation revolves around punishments and rewards which often used in traditional workplaces where people get rewarded as per their performances. Such external motivation like status and money are the primary drivers of human behaviour.

  3. In this book, the author Pink argues that humans also possess intrinsic motivation. This motivation is driven by the inherent satisfaction of the activity itself. Mastery, autonomy, and purpose are identified as key factors that contribute to intrinsic motivation. Here Mastery is the urge to get better at something and continually improve the knowledge in that specific field. Autonomy is the desire to have control over one's own choices and work that align with personal values and interests. And, the purpose should be meaningful which contribute a lot to align one's life.

  4. Pink also introduces the concept of the "Type I" behaviour which is characterised by self-direction and intrinsic motivation. This behaviour could lead to greater productivity and satisfaction in organisation and individuals.

Great so the third type of motivation that is intrinsic motivation can be dependent on anything according to a person. Maybe someone can achieve that spiritually as well by diving deeper through meditation ( Maybe).
