En el 2008, Iron Man y Hulk: El Hombre Increíble comenzaron la franquicia de Marvel Studios con las primeras señales de un gran crossover en camino. En el 2010, Iron Man 2 y Thor, y Capitán América: El Primer Vengador en el 2011, dieron forma al universo compartido que estaban creando. Finalmente, en el 2012 fue estrenada The Avengers, la película que reuniría a Thor, Iron Man, Hulk y al Capitán América, junto con la Viuda Negra y Ojo de Halcón, a quienes también habíamos visto, todos unidos formando al equipo de superhéroes que da nombre a la película.

En esta historia, los seis héroes deben unir fuerzas para enfrentar a Loki, quien busca usar el poder del Teseracto para traer una invasión alienígena a la Tierra.

In 2008, Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk kicked off the Marvel Studios franchise with the first signs of a major crossover on the way. In 2010, Iron Man 2 and Thor, and Captain America: The First Avenger in 2011, gave shape to the shared universe they were creating. Finally, in 2012, The Avengers was released, the movie that would bring together Thor, Iron Man, Hulk and Captain America, along with Black Widow and Hawkeye, whom we had also seen, all united to form the superhero team that gives the movie its name.

In this story, the six heroes must join forces to confront Loki, who seeks to use the power of the Theseract to bring an alien invasion to Earth.

La consolidación del universo cinematográfico

Esta película es el final de la Fase 1 del UCM (Universo Cinematográfico de Marvel), donde las historias de estos superhéroes finalmente convergen tras todas las pistas que habían dado en sus películas individuales.

Todos los elementos que conforman esta película habían tenido apariciones previas en la Fase 1. S.H.I.E.L.D. es la encargada de unificar la mayoría de estas historias a través de su conexión con los demás personajes, el teseracto también cumple un papel importante al haber aparecido previamente en la escena post-créditos de Thor y al haber aparecido como el arma de HYDRA en Capitán América: El Primer Vengador.

The consolidation of the cinematic universe

This film is the end of the MCU ( Marvel Cinematic Universe) Phase 1, where the stories of these superheroes finally converge after all the hints they had given in their individual films.

All of the elements that make up this film had had previous appearances in Phase 1. S.H.I.E.L.D. is responsible for unifying most of these stories through its connection to the other characters, the tesseract also plays an important role having previously appeared in the post-credits scene of Thor and having appeared as HYDRA's weapon in Captain America: The First Avenger.

La fórmula de un final de temporada

Al tratarse de una saga tan extensa, la estructura de las "fases" se acaba pareciendo un poco al formato de las temporadas de las series, en cuyo caso, The Avengers sería el final de esta primera temporada, en la que los héroes finalmente se unen y conforman el equipo.

Los episodios que culminan una temporada suelen llamar la atención por la emoción que éstos transmiten, tanto por el desarrollo que se ve en los personajes, como las grandes fuerzas a las que se enfrentan. En ese sentido, esta película tampoco se queda atrás. La reunión de "los héroes más poderosos del planeta" como la esperanza de la humanidad contra los peligros que se avecinan, así como el poder que posee Loki con el Teseracto y su alianza con los Chitauri, acaban entre todas dando vida a una batalla épica y digna de recordar.

The formula of a season finale

Since it is such an extensive saga, the structure of the "phases" ends up resembling a bit the format of the seasons of the series, in which case, The Avengers would be the end of this first season, in which the heroes finally unite and form the team.

The episodes that culminate a season usually draw attention for the emotion they convey, both for the development seen in the characters, as well as the great forces they face. In that way, this film is no slouch either. The gathering of "the Earth's mightiest heroes" as humanity's hope against the dangers ahead, as well as the power possessed by Loki with the Tesseract and his alliance with the Chitauri, end up together giving life to an epic battle worth remembering.

La combinación de lo mejor de Marvel

The Avengers es una película bastante completa respecto lo que uno habría podido esperar después de 5 películas, con los mejores elementos de cada una de éstas.

El Tony Stark de Robert Downey Jr., por ejemplo, logró convertirse en el favorito de muchos tras su trabajo en Iron Man y en Iron Man 2. En The Avengers nuevamente vuelve a tener bastante protagonismo al ser uno de los miembros principales del equipo, por lo que la película tiene mucha de su personalidad. La relación de Thor y Loki también es otro elemento que resaltó mucho desde Thor, por lo tanto, al tener al primero como miembro de los Vengadores y al otro como principal villano, le da otro aporte significativo al impacto de esta película sobre el público.

El ambiente de la película también resulta un buen equilibrio respecto a las otras, con elementos místicos de Thor, peleas con efectos especiales CGI similares a los de las películas de Iron Man, o temas similares a los tratados en Capitán América: El Primer Vengador.

The combination of Marvel's best

The Avengers is a fairly complete film relative to what one might have expected after 5 films, with the best elements from each of these.

Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark, for example, managed to become a favorite of many after his work in Iron Man and Iron Man 2. In The Avengers he is again quite prominent as one of the main members of the team, so the movie has a lot of his personality. The relationship of Thor and Loki is also another element that stood out a lot from Thor, so having the former as a member of the Avengers and the other as the main villain gives another significant contribution to the impact of this film on the audience.

The atmosphere of the film also proves to be a good balance to the others, with mystical elements of Thor, CGI special effects fights similar to those in the Iron Man films, or themes similar to those dealt with in Captain America: The First Avenger.

The Avengers como película

Éste es un Blockbuster con todos los elementos para considerarse una película entretenida y emocionante. Sus escenas de acción cumplen con las expectativas que el crossover de los héroes más poderosos del planeta podría generar.

La trama se centra principalmente en la capacidad para trabajar en equipo que deben desarrollar los protagonistas. Lo disperso que está el equipo al buscar cada uno resolver la situación por su cuenta, el hecho de que ésta se vuelva su principal debilidad y la forma en qué lograrán unirse son todos puntos muy bien manejados.

El reparto en general está muy bien elegido, cada miembro de los Vengadores tiene su propia personalidad y logran buena química entre ellos, por lo que todos logran volverse personajes memorables. Fury, quien también cuenta como uno de los protagonistas, también forma parte de ese reparto bien elegido. Finalmente Loki tampoco se queda atrás en su puesto de antagonista, pues su avaricia y su astucia lo convierten en un digno villano para esta película.

Bruce Banner, que al ser interpretado a partir de ahora por el actor Mark Ruffalo se acaba volviendo una novedad en la película, también es un punto positivo del reparto, pues el actor le da una personalidad fresca a su personaje. Mientras Edward Norton le transmitía a su personaje una constante preocupación por salir de su situación, Mark Ruffalo refleja mayor calma, lo que demuestra que el personaje ha aprendido a manejar su condición y que ahora tiene todo bajo control. El Banner de Ruffalo logra estar al nivel de los demás personajes y ganarse el mismo aprecio y la misma atención que los demás.

The Avengers as a movie

This is a Blockbuster with all the elements to be considered an entertaining and exciting movie. Its action scenes live up to the expectations that the crossover of the mightiest heroes on the planet could generate.

The plot focuses mainly on the ability to work as a team that the protagonists must develop. How scattered the team is as each one seeks to resolve the situation on their own, the fact that this becomes their main weakness and the way in which they manage to unite are all very well handled.

The cast in general is very well chosen, each member of the Avengers has his own personality and they achieve good chemistry between them, so they all manage to become memorable characters. Fury, who also counts as one of the main characters, is also part of this well-chosen cast. Finally, Loki is no slouch in his role as an antagonist either, as his greed and cunning make him a worthy villain for this film.

Bruce Banner, who is now played by actor Mark Ruffalo and becomes a novelty in the film, is also a positive point of the cast, as the actor gives a fresh personality to his character. While Edward Norton conveyed to his character a constant worry to get out of his situation, Mark Ruffalo reflects more calmness, which shows that the character has learned to handle his condition and now has everything under control. Ruffalo's Banner manages to keep up with the other characters and earn the same appreciation and attention as the others.
