I love Gardening 🌽🥒🥕-Do you?

Now is the season of gardening almost all countries of the world. And it is a little bit easier now as so many countries are experiencing raining season too. I know how much i suffered to water my garden during dry season but today am not. They are getting natural rain fall since March. Most of my plants are doing very well . My casava is blossoming. Let's go as i explain mom why i love gardening.

Do you like gardening? Why do you like it?

This is cucumber. I planted them10 days ago and today i went to check how they are doing. I saw that all germinated very well.

This is okra too. It was planted the same day with cucumber. This is 28 days okra. It means that in the next 20 days, i should get okra here for my vegetable soup.

The pumpkin is already 14 days. You know sometimes it takes some pumpkin seed 8 days to come up. But i tell you in just another 7 days, you will be suprise wh you will see.

This is melon. It was 2 weeks ago that i planted it and as you can see it will do very well.

This cocoyam is very good for people with high cholesterol. You can cook it poridge or cook it water yam for local food.

The maize is doing well too in just 4 weeks. But i noticed that some has been affected by armyworm although i have put neem boost to prevent it.

Few of them that was affected by armyworm, i nke sure i removed the armyworm from the maize.

Here comes bitter leaf in the garden. You can use bitter leaf to cook soup. It is medical too. When there is fire burn, get bitter leaf, squeeze it and put the liquid on it it will heal it.

I planted 3 different types of yam in my garden. This is called Atam yam

This is called Hausa yam because it comes from North.

This is sent leaf.

Here comes tomatoes. It is coming up

This is water yam.

This is green leaves. I have it in my garden for stew, for source and for poridge yam.

I planted 3 different casava species. This is called red casava. When you use it for gari, the color will be like you added it oil. It is very good for garri

We call this nwa onye ọchá or white casava. You have to allow this one to stay a year and 6 months before harvesting it. A very good source of Fufu.

This is one we call give me chance. In just 6 months, you can start to harvest it if you want to. But for me I love to harvest it from 8 months.

This is what I have been doing since February this year. It took part of my hive hours. I make sure I put everything in other before may. Today i will go to remove weeds from the remaining part of the garden

How do I spend time in the garden?

I work in my garden every week. During the planting season , i work almost every day in the garden. But now that i have finished planting, i will be working in the garden ones a week to remove weeds from the garden. I will go to check the cucumbers and okra twice a week to see how they are growing.

My second son is my garden partner so i spend some of my hours with him in the garden. He love planting and caring for garden too just like me so he became my garden buddy. LoL

Why i love gardening

Because I have garden, most of my vegetables are organic. No chemical fertilizer. I eat them fresh and when i want it. I save money too. I will plant okra of 50 Naira and I will eat for a long time. Likewise other plants. I will prepare my garri by myself and the joy of growing things and caring for garden cannot be purchased in the market.
