Big group of us trod the Ho Kow Hainam Kopitiam
Wanting to bring our parents to a famous IN-thing shop here, shared by many local influencers, big group of us trodded and stomped the Ho Kow Hainam Kopitiam, in Chinese is called 何九海南茶店. We needed to drive to travel there for about 30 minutes-40 minutes due to heavy traffic plus finding car park and some walking, , at Kuala Lumpur Downtown.
Ho Kow Hainam Kopitiam
Location:
1, Jalan Balai Polis, City Centre, 50000 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur
When we arrived, the queue was super long and already a lot of people queuing. We were asked to take numbers, key in the number of people in our group and wait. Two waiters were there to assist with the seating professionally.
We were asked to queue the side of the group so that we would not block the earlier batch of customers who were waiting. So view from the queue.
Another view at the other side which after that we went there for shade as it was starting to drizzle.
We then were asked to look at the menu to start placing our orders on the order chit. The front of the menu looked like newspaper layout kind of news about this coffee shop, it was stated as the hidden gem at Lorong Panggung.
Other pages of the menu.
I spotted Jade Chicken Ham Roll
So I ordered that one specifically for myself because I am Jadeline, in short, Jade. Haha.
And then the boys started calling me chicken ham roll. What the.... 😂
We waited for 40 minutes.
If you are not free, I would suggest you NOT TO COME. The children were getting impatient and the elderly legs were getting tired. Plus it was drizzling did not help at all.
But yes, finally we got our seat. Yayyyy!!!
Let's Go!
How the entrance looks like
Not a very big space but I guessed enough for the patient crowd haha.
The Lower ground ambience
We were led to behind and said our seat was upstairs. Okay, I spotted wooden staircase, quite steep and narrow, one should be careful when walk up or down.
With 11 of us, the biggest group of the day, we literally looked like a customers excitedly stomping our feet, trodded up the staircase. The children stepped so loud. Haha.
The upstairs looked nice. And it was so cold. I love the antique design actually.
Upstairs Ambience
The roof was made of many bamboos. Very beautiful design.
We sat at a corner with many hand-painted of old places and buildings. Love this artsy corner.
Took a photo of my parents.
Since we had placed our orders earlier, the food arrived fast. Below were our spread of food.
Dry Chicken curry noodle
This was my food. The portion was huge. The curry was delicious with yummy chicken. I shared with some others too because I had my Jade Chicken Ham Roll too.
The Dimsum
We ordered colourful roll, cheese beancurd and jade chicken hamroll.
Ham Egg Croissant
My eldest son ordered ham egg croissant. He loved it.
Butter kaya toast and soft boiled eggs
We ordered 3 sets of butter kaya toast and soft boiled eggs for the children. Very well done toast and eggs.
The nieces put her pin on my son''s hair. Haha.
Curry Chee Cheong Fan (CCF)
This is their famous dish too, very perfectly done thin rice flat noodles with curry sauce.
Nasi Lemak
Fragrant coconut milk rice with delicious fried chicken and 'sambal' sauce.
Peanut Butter sugar toast
This was yummy too. We all shared together.
Curry Chicken dip with plain bread
My parents chose this. They loved traditional breakfast like this.
We were noisy considering the place wasn't spacious and then we big group with children. Nonetheless, it was a nice gathering, eating and laughing and chitchatting. And sharing food together. If asked whether will I come here again, yes, but not with the children. For some peace eating, just for once. If you are at Kuala Lumpur town and have a lot of time to spare, do drop by here.
