Knowledge Is Key To Less Spending

They say Knowledge is power but knowledge also helps in individual day-to-day spending, the answer is yes it does but most individuals lack knowledge which makes them spend on something they can do in a twinkle of an eye. On Friday my elder brother had an issue with his car so I took it to a mechanic to check what was wrong with the car because it had been vibrating a lot and it had a different sound.

The mechanic said the problem was with the petrol pump, according to him the pump had a fault and needed to be replaced with a new one and so I set out to get a new petrol pump but it was not easy, so I went from store to store looking for the exact petrol pump. It took me two hours before I finally got the pump and it cost 7000 naira ($15.31cent).

When I got back and handed over the new petrol pump to the mechanic, he said it was the exact one because the pimp had a bigger pin. I was pissed off and then went back home to tell my brother what happened. We went back to the mechanic shop but as we got there we saw the mechanic was driving the car away and we were shocked because we thought the car should not be able to start without the petrol pump.

When he came back the mechanic explained to us that he was able to fix the petrol pump and flush the dirt out of the filter and assured us that the car will be ok now. I later went back to return the new pump I bought and took another thing since the owner of the shop was not willing to give me a refund. My brother was too tired to test the car so he drove back home which is not far from the mechanic workshop. So the next day my brother took the car out early in the morning, and at about 11 am he called me and told me nothing had changed, that the car was still vibrating and was not accelerating properly so he had to return home.

We both went back to the mechanic shop to complain about the persisting issue. The mechanic claimed it because we have not changed the gear oil and my brother was like how will the gear have anything to do with the car vibrating, he decided to go online and do some research and then asked the mechanic to check the coil.

The mechanic quickly said yes the coil would be the issue and when he checked it was one of the coils that had stopped working, so I went to buy the coil which cost 6000 naira($13.12cent) and when he replaced it the car stopped vibrating and the sound was back to normal. If my brother had not done his research we might still be in the mechanic shop spending more money finding the problem when it was staring us in the face. Knowledge is key and if we had done our research early we wouldn't have spent that much amount.

So guys this is where I say goodbye, thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Most times all these technicians does is just try and error. Imagine if your brother couldn't figured out the problem the second time, he will continue to spend money without solving the real problem of the car.

Exactly, most of them are outdated and rather stay that way instead of them to improve in their work.
