Barcelona Beat Real Betis 2-1 Away From Home To Go Eight Points Clear Of Rivals Real Madrid

FC Barcelona has done it again, the Catalan giants are on fire and look unstoppable now as they are getting closer to winning the league title. Last night Barcelona played away from home against Real Betis, this was the second time both teams met in the 2022/2023 season, Barcelona has a lot of history with Real Betis and in their last five meetings, Barcelona has won four matches while Real Betis has managed to win a match.

The squad was missing an important player which was Dembele but even without him on the field, the team played well, the first goal which was Raphinha's header was disallowed by VAR for offside, Pedri was close to getting a goal in the 18th minute as he dribbled past two Betis player and tried to dribble past the goalkeeper but failed as the keeper took the ball away from his legs.

The first 45 minutes of the first half ended without a goal as both teams failed to convert their chances into a goal. Barcelona opened the scoreline in the 65th minute of the second half, Frenkie De Jong quickly took the free kick given by the referee, Balde received the ball and made an incredible run down Real Betis' box, played a through ball into the box for Raphinha, the Brazilian international waste no time as he made a tap in into the goalpost and scored the first goal of the match.

Barcelona extended their lead to two goals in the 80th minute from a corner kick, Pedri swung the ball into the box to Araujo who tried heading the ball into the goalpost, but the ball went straight to Lewandoski, the Polish striker quickly made a turn and played the ball into the goalpost. Lewandsoki has now scored 14 goals in his first-ever season in Laliga as a Barcelona player and is probably the main candidate for the pichichi award this season.

Real Betis got a consultation goal for a defence mistake by Kounde, the Frenchman scored an own goal which put Betis back in the match. The match came to an end and Real Betis failed to equalize, Barcelona are now 50 points at the top of the table and are 8 points clear of Real Madrid. Barcelona also made history with their win last night as being the first team in La Liga to beat Real Betis six times in a row away from home.

The overall performance of the team was good and Balde, another Barcelona academic player, has been phenomenal in the first team, his passing, and pace is just incredible and he is only 19 years of age, the Left Back position is in safe hands if Jordi Alba retires in the future.
