The Spanish Supercup began on Wednesday with Real Madrid playing against Valencia, Madrid struggle to grab a win as both teams went into penalties, Real Madrid won on penalties and are through to the final which will be played on Sunday. FC Barcelona played their first match in the Spanish Supercup against Real Betis last night, Real Betis and Barcelona have both had a lot of history together when both teams play on the field but Barcelona has been the dominant side as Barcelona has won four matches out of their five previous meetings and Real Betis has only won a match in all five previous meetings.

The first 45 minutes of the first half were controlled by Barcelona, Barca had more ball possession which is not a surprise, and more passes completed but had fewer shots on target. Barcelona found the net in the 23rd minute of the first half, a brilliant goal scored by Pedri but the goal was called off by VAR for an offside but that did not stop the Catalan Giant as they scored the first goal of the match in the 40th minute of the first half.

Dembele with the ball on his feet played his way into Real Betis' defense as he dribbled past a defender and played a through ball to Lewandoski, the Polish striker's first shot was blocked by Real Betis defender but Lewandoski did not back down as he played another shot and this time it went into the goalpost and gave Barca their first lead of the match. Real Betis tried to level the scoreline before the first half ended but could not get the ball past Barcelona goalkeeper Ter Stegen who made incredible saves and denied Betis a goal in the first half.

Barcelona started the second half strong, still kept their ball possession, and controlled the match, Dembele was at his best last night on the field, made some dribbles and created chances for his teammate but he and Frenkie De Jong were subbed off in the 68th minute which was a bad decision from Xavi and that decision reflected immediately on the pitch, Barcelona attack became weak and Real Betis started getting more of the ball and created dangerous chances and in the 77th minute they leveled the scoreline.

Luiz Henrique from Real Betis caused havoc in Barcelona's defense as he brought all the Barca players to his side and created a lot of space for Fekir who quickly played the coming ball to him into the goalpost. Barcelona got another goal three minutes later, Lewandoski played a shot into the goalpost and scored the goal for Barcelona but VAR had other plans and canceled the goal for an offside, that was the second Barcelona goal canceled by VAR.

The 90th minutes came to an end and the match had to go into extra time. Three minutes into extra time Ansu Fati played a volley and gave Barcelona the lead back, it was an incredible goal scored by an incredible young talent. Real Betis did not back down as they equalized eight minutes later, Luiz Henrique was the architect of Betis' second goal and his teammate Loren Moron scored with his backheel to put Betis back in the game.

Both teams failed to get a goal in the 15 minutes of extra time and the match had to enter penalties. Barcelona won by penalties as they scored all four penalties while Real Betis scored two and were denied two by Barcelona goalkeeper Ter Stegen who turned to Emiliano Martinez in my eyes 😂.

Barcelona will play against Real Madrid this Sunday in the Spanish Supercup final an EL Clasico. I won't want to miss it. So guys that will be all for now, thanks for stopping by, and have a great day.
