A Major Setback For Nigerians In The Upcoming 2023 Election

Five days ago INEC(Independent National Electoral Commission) released a statement on their Official Twitter page and I quote " the Commission informed Nigerians that out of the 2, 523,458 (Two million, five hundred and twenty-three thousand, four hundred and fifty-eight) fresh registrants that registered between 28 June 2021 and 14th January 2022, 1,126,359 (One million, one hundred and twenty-six thousand, three hundred and fifty-nine) records were found to be invalid and consequently delisted.

Now is it not absurd, that what INEC is trying to tell Nigerians is that those 1.1 million will not be able to partake in voting for the candidate of their choice in the upcoming general election in 2023?

This is a huge setback for INEC and the rest of Nigerians because I don't understand in this age and time INEC would let this happen when a lot of Nigerians are willing and eager to vote in the upcoming general election.

INEC should not be left up the hook for this one and I can assure you this isn't the 1.1 million fought, I remember four months ago someone tweeted on Twitter that he has a friend working in INEC, and his friend told him that all the people registering for voters card don't know INEC are wasting their time, that some of this applicant may have done the registration in the past and forgotten or misplaced their voter's card, that instead of registering for new ones they are supposed to retrieve the old ones.

He went on and said INEC knows this and instead of the personal registering to let them know they just kept their mouth shut, and now it has happened.

Once again the people in power have proved to be more cunning and useless, I am a big supporter of Peter Obi and I have been telling people around me that the only thing going to stop him from winning this coming election is if INEC decides not to play fair because he has already won the hearts of many even in the North.

I find it hard to believe that INEC is as independent as they claim to be in the eyes of the public, the government, in my opinion, is still controlling this sector. For example, are party members supposed to be in the election centre handing out money to people to get their votes, those party members should be arrested and jailed also a quick disqualification from that party in the election but no INEC will let it pass and it keeps happening over and over again.

My fellow hivenaija let me stop here before this country gives me a headache this evening, have a nice weekend.

This is really disheartening...it only shows they don't have the nation at heart.
